hi i use suse 9.0 i updated to kde 3.2 i would like to install kdevelop 3 (yast) when i come to install it, there are some dependance on old kde file... how to resolve that? thanks === Borland rulez http://pages.infinit.net/borland

KDE Login Screen läßt auf sich warten

Hallo Liste, ich hab seit einiger Zeit das Problem, daß es furchtbar lange dauert bis die KDE Login Maske erscheint. Vom Xserver Start bis zu dem Moment, wenn die Login Maske erscheint, dauert es bestimmt 2 Minuten. Mit strace kann man sehen, daß kde_greet die ganze Zeit damit verbringt, sämtliche Fontdateien zu lesen, möglicherweise sogar mehrmals. Warum tut es das? Ist da was falsch konfiguriert? Kann ich das irgendwie wiederabstellen? Gruß Mario

Mousbuttons in KDE: Can they be assigned?

Hi Everyone, I wonder if there is a way to assign mousebuttons to specific functions. I just bought the Logitech Optical Click! mouse and it has a extra button which can, under Windows, be used to replace the ALT+TAB keystrokes which is used to switch between documents. I was looking through the KDE Control Center and found all sorts fo things to assign key-strokes, but nothing for mousebuttons. The mouse tool is not of much help here. Would that be something I would have to do via the XFree86 config file? The mouse is loaded via the "mouse" module in XFree. Desktop-Icons - Chaos after restart

hi there, every time kde 3.1 starts my icons are spread in a big mess all over my desktop, so i have to sort them again manually. sometimes it works to save the session and tell kde to restore the session after a reboot, but sometimes even this does not work. has anyone a fix for this ? best regards - Acki

Decoration

Hi there, ... I managed to adapt everything, bottons, window decorations, sliders, etc. to something I want it to look like (which is basically the Mac Aqua theme, btw.), except three things: 1. That darn green ugly SuSE beast of the K menu. How can I replace this icon with something more attractive? 2. That ugly dragon I am presented with in the logout requester? 3. I need an Aqua theme for Mozilla. The only two Aqua themes I found for Mozilla are either for Mozilla 1.0 or 0.9 or something that doesn't work anymore with a more recent Mozilla or for the Mac version of Mozilla. Both are no options with Mozilla 1.5 being the current stable version on Linux/Intel machines of course. relevant System info: SuSE 9.0, KDE 3.1.4, updated thru YOU I'd very much appreciate it if anyone can help me with this. Web cam question

Hello everyone, I am using SuSE 8.2 Professional. I just bought a Logitech QuickCam Messenger and tried to use it, but could not find which program or how to configure it for Linux. The Logitech site does not have any Linux drivers. I tried searching for software on the CDs I saw that a usb camera is support by the kernel, but how do I get mine to talk to the kernel?? Which is the best program to use. I checked SuSE's product database their is stuff on mice etc. but nothing on a web cam. I tried configuring a camera in Control Center still no luck I got an error of not being able to read some files....probably the once I need :) Any suggestions are welcome. kmail now has spam features? (sortof)

I've just noticed that kmail now has the ability to "Mark Message as Spam" and likewise for ham. This is available in the context menu on a message, and button for it can be placed on the toolbar via "Configure Toolbar". I think this might be a newish feature, because I haven't noticed it before. So what I'm wondering is, does anyone know what it does? Is this a stepping stone to better integration with spam filtering tools in a future release, or can I actually use it for something now? For example I tried to create a filter based on this spam "Mark" and I couldn't figure out how to do it, since it doesn't actually seem to change the message or it's headers in any way. Anyway, that's my bit of kde trivia for the day. Craig

after frollicking around my taskbar is completely empty. An added new user on the system has the normal suse appearance. How do I restore the Suse situation on the empty one? regards, piet

Quanta 3.2 sluggish when editing large scripts

Hi all, I have just upgraded KDE & Quanta to versions 3.2 & find editing large scripts with a lot of code (500+ lines of code), the editing window becomes very sluggish and takes time to respond. After typing a line of 15-20 characters, I have to wait a few seconds or longer for the editing window to catch up before I can do anything else. Can anyone help? Oh, Quanta 3.1 editing window works perfectly but the project files do not display when running under KDE 3.2.
