What actually controls what splash is available, the greeter/DM, or the DE?
Is there a TW or Leap package I can install to get Elarun in KF5 instead of a
choice between Breeze and nothing? Configure splash doesn't provide a way to
see where the selections live so as to be able to run rpm -qf on them to see
what rpm owns them. Installing kde4-wallpaper-default got Elarun for the
desktop wallpaper, but not for splash. SDDM isn't an option due to KDM
features SDDM lacks, unless SDDM can be used just for configuration access to
optional splashes and not required to be the configured greeter.

Hi all,
Has any one notice that kwallet's password fields and buttons have
tripled in size in Plasma 5.4x. I've also notice this in VirtualBox.
The toolbar and statusbar's height has doubled or tripled in height.
The buttons have become huge.
I noticed this after the update.
Any one else?

Cheers!

HI, I've default wallpaper (green bulb) in sddm and Plasma but with
different size.
So this give a sort of bad transition from sddm to desktop.
Under desktop setting, the positioning (center, scaled..) does not work.
I see the change in the small preview but the Apply button does nothing !
Is this a known bug ?

I have a multiboot Haswell system on which it has been a serious pain to make
sound work. With help from Takashi on the opensuse-factory list[1], I've finally
managed to get sound almost everywhere. The holdout is actually two, system
sounds from Plasma5 in TW, and sound from smplayer running in Plasma5 in TW,
where aplay, HTML5 and YaST2 test sounds all work. Where it is working across
the board:
Mageia 5/KDE4
Fedora 23/Plasma 5
13.1/TDE/KDE4
13.2/KDE4
42.1/KDE3
TW/KDE4.
The intentional difference between the TW/Plasma5 and TW/KDE4 installations WRT
KDE is on the KDE4 I've set locks breez* and kde-oxygen-fonts in order to block
upgrading any more of KDE4 to KF5 than is forced. Consequential differences are
necessarily a few rpms, but WRT sound I see the non-working KF5 installation even
though running the same kernel has a different loaded snd module configuration,
thus:

How can it be determined why the differences, or if they matter?
How to get system sounds to work in KF5? In multimedia settings, no
backends are offered, even though both phonon-backend-gstreamer and
phonon-backend-vlc are installed on both TW installations.
Another difference noted is on the working KDE4, phonon-backend-vlc came
from Packman in June, while no other sound-related packages are from Packman,
or are currently available from Packman.
All suggestions welcome.

Hi there,
the Plasma5 I think still is under heavy construction, right?
This makes me wonder, will we get frequtent KDE updates for OS 42.1 to
improve things or do you recommend to use some additional repo to get
more frequent updates?
My goal is not to have bleeding edge Plasma5 stuff, I want a mostly
stable Plasma5.
I just wonder if the standard OS 42.1 update policy will provide us such
frequent stability updates and fixes or if additional Plasma5 repo is
recommended for more stability.
Thanx

HI guys, kate-15.08 keeps running after closing.
Open a terminal (eg konsole), type kate, close kate. I need CTRL+C or
kate keeps running in background.
Added Applications repo and now, with kate-15.12, problem fixed !

I probably should have asked this in here, instead of in the main
mailing list.
In previous releases, I was able to change the mouse behaviour to use horizontal instead of vertical scrolling to switch desktops. This
capability seems to have disappeared in Leap, at least with the Plasma5 Desktop.
Is it possible to re-enable horizontal scrolling in this instance? Everywhere else, eg. switching between browser tabs, horizontal scrolling works as intended. It even works on the taskbar to change desktops, but not on the desktop itself. I also used to be able to use horizontal scrolling to switch between tasks on the taskbar, but no more.
Is there some way to get this mouse action back into the desktop actions?

HI guys, I'd like to install Yakuake5 but it is available only in few
home repo. Which is the status of the app ? Is it reliable enough ?
Missing "kde 5" apps are (for my needs) Ktorrent that is taking shape,
Yakuake and K3b. Any news about K3b ?
Thanks !

How do I make all dates and times /in KDE/ to be shown in the following
format if the 'date' command returns "Mon Nov 23 21:53:13 EST 2015":
Date: "2015-11-23"
Time (no AM/PM): "21:51"
I am in the United States but prefer the formats above. Under KDE4 with
another distro I figured this out, but can't find it in OpenSUSE's KDE4.
Yes, I also know that KDE5 does NOT support customization of formats,
which is one of MANY reasons I switched to OpenSUSE.
Thanks in advance,
Emilio
