[opensuse-kde] The password field reduces in height when wrong password is entered to access Yast

Hello List Mates, I have noticed in KDE4 for some time. When I type the wrong password to access Yast, the height of the password field becomes quite small after two wrong passwords. This applies to the default setting in openSUSE 12.x and 13.1. Now I know that it can be resized. However, this does not happen in GNOME. Is this a known bug? Cheers! When this happens, try Alt+F2 to see if kdesu of the user is there (it hangs) then kill it with the terminal and PID. Log out, log in If it still doesn't work you will have to use another user to login and from terminal you kill the two processes of pam and system.d mentioned. I would expect then it will work. For me at least these two processes block everything when some crash (like plasma multimonitor support occurs and are sanitized only when you shut down these user processes that persist to logout. [opensuse-kde] kdesu does not work

Hi there, when I try to run a command as root within my KDE session, kdesu does not work, it simply does not do anything. I invoke this command: kdesu -u root -c /sbin/yast2 But, nothing, happens, no error message, nothing. The same happens with xdg-su, xdg-su -u root -c /sbin/yast2 does nothing, no error message, just nothing. What could be broken there? Hello, Get Hot New Stuff in kmail (KDE 4.12.2) add-on installer displays an error message at the bottom: Configuration file not found: "messageviewer_header_themes.knsrc" The spec file at https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/KDE:Distro:Factory/kdepim4/kde… excludes this file explicitly, but why? [opensuse-kde] KDE composit type

Hi there, using openSUSE 13.1 with KDE 4.11.5 I can chose from several composit types, OpenGL 1.2, 2.0 and 3.1. What is the difference chosing one or the other? Does some eye candy need higher OpenGL versions? I have a nVidia 210mobile chipset running the nVidia closed source driver and I think it supports OpenGL up to 3.3. So far I see no difference in chosing one OpenGL composit type over the other. [opensuse-kde] Bluedevil does not work

I just installed openSUSE 13.1 and when I want to configure bluetooth, bluedevil always says "Bluetooth is not completely enabled". Restarting the machine, unplugging and replugging the bluetooth dongle does not help. Restarting the system´s bluetooth service does not help either. It happens with original bluedevil version 1.3.2 and with version 2.0-rc1 from KDE extra repo. Any workaround available on that issue? [opensuse-kde] Advice for resetting kdepim stack

Hi KDE'rs Once again my pim stack ( openSUSE 13.1 + kr412 ) start to behave abnormally (Missing email in folders imap-offline) auto-completion totally hieratic etc. Akonadi still fetching mail even if all application are closed (it should goes in offline mode) SO look like its again the time to reset everything. But I doesn't want to reconfigure everything from scratch manually. Mostly because imap & kmail are not able to reaffect automagically Sent,Drat,Template,Junk folders. So here's my plan, and I will thanks any of your comment or feedback. I've exported with PIM Setting Export the whole informations. I'm using a centralized postgresql database with a dedicated db. Now that I have those configuration exported, I will 0: backup manually all important files ( contacts and agendas) 1: close all application & akonadictl stop. 2: delete all data in the database 3: delete all files in ~/.local/share/akonadi* 4: stop nepomuk completely (kill any process left) and remove completely its db data in /.kde4/share/apps/nepomuk ( saving 18Go ) 5: pick the list of all files in the exported configuration zip and remove all of them 6: close kde session and remove any temp & cache regarding my user (tmp, var/tmp) 7: restart kde --- here is the unknown part --- 8: reactivate nepomuk stuff including pim or not ? 9: run pim settings export tool to reimport the zip file 10: let akonadi fetching again my 9 GB of mails, and nepomuk indexing them ? Tell me if the step were already done by someone else, or if any actual documentation exist. [opensuse-kde] no system or apps sound in KDE4 in 13.1 for normal users

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=833253 applies to this installation. KDE's system sounds do work when logged into KDE as root, but not as any other user, even after explicitly turning login and logoff sounds on in systemsettings, and rebooting. As normal user, attempting to open YaST2 causes a popup window saying only Su returned with an error. Users are members of groups audio, pulse and pulse-access in /etc/group. HI I'm off on holiday for a week in a couple of days and i need some reading material. I usually take thrillers but i need a change. I'm asking if there are any QT, QTquick, QML, Plasma related documents out there that need proof reading.
