[opensuse-kde] Some kde and Qt apps require exec flag in ~/.cache

Hello KDE Community! I found out two applications spectacle and qtcreator have for some time begun to require exec flag in ~/.cache without which it crashing, since it is assumed that the execution of files should be allowed from this directory. Is it correct? Is it secure? How do you think? In extreme cases, it can explicitly use /bin/sh to run, but do not require the ability to run any executable that can replace any other application with same permissons? And the application should not be crashed because it is not possible to do it. [opensuse-kde] Missing panel on non native resolution

HI guys, I've old monitor 1280x1024 but sometimes I need a 16:9 resolution (1280x720). The configuration module in systemsetting does no offer 16:9 resolution. Worth reporting upstream ? I can change the resolution with nvidia-settings but I've two panels: default on bottom and another on top. At 1280x720 the bottom panel is missing. There's a empty area where I can see the desktop background but it's not usable by application. Bug ? Do I need to report upstream ? Bottom panel is restored after switching back to 1280x1024 resolution... Hello, the KDE:Qt5 repository hierarchy in the OBS is going to be reorganized, and projects are going to get moved around. The plan is as follows: - Remove very old projects no longer used: KDE:Active, KDE:Qt5{2,3,4,5}, KDE:Qt4{4,6}, KDE:Qt:STABLE, KDE:Netbook - Move all Qt5 repositories as subprojects of KDE:Qt, for example KDE:Qt59 becomes KDE:Qt:5.9 - Remove unsupported Qt versions: Qt 5.7, Qt 5.8. - Add a new repository for Qt 5.10: KDE:Qt:5.10 This might impact 42.1 users (that should upgrade) that use the KDE:Qt56 repository to use newer KDE software. They should change the URL of the repository to point to KDE:Qt:5.6 instead. KDE:Unstable:Qt will not be affected. The projects have been copied, so please update all references to KDE:Qt* *now* so that we can delete the projects at the old location. [opensuse-kde] Temporary migration to Kmail3 as work around

This is not a polemic post but driven by sheer necessity. Having Leap 42.3 and given the current situation of Kontact/kmail I have to find a temporary workaround to avoid the use of akonadi (given the daily or hourly crashes, compromised indexes, filter failure, and at the end as it seems even overheat shutdowns due to zombie processes and spontaneous system crashes. I thought at Kmail3 (that was the only program that never made me loose a mail. a) is it possible to migrate my mail from Kmail5 to Kmail3? What format would I choose for archival in order to be able to import them into kmail3. [opensuse-kde] substitute mariadb with something working, to restore the functionality of kmail

The combination of mariadb and kmail is (in my case, ymmv) totally non functional and a disaster. Data loss, crashes (up to system crashes), multiple merge candidates, blocked filters..... So, I do not care much about "loosing data" when changing, as I have archives with the mail that can be re-imported. Somebody did write some mail I think on this list on how to do it, but I lost them (due to kmail/akonadi dataloss) about how to migrate, and now I asked myself if it is easy to accomplish and if there is a blog with a howto from somebody who did it. Help is welcomed as the current situation is not acceptable or functional any more. I will have to migrate a 13.2 to 42.2 and I need to know (the user will rip my head off if I do not save them) where were the desktop background pictures saved in 13.2? If I remove the directories, processes akonadi_ical_resource_ start to consume whole CPU thread and recreate the directories...
