I've been finishing the branding work for 11.3 this week, and have been
documenting how to do it as I go. The first draft is attached. Comments? If
I was hit by a bus tomorrow, could you do openSUSE 11.4 branding? (Lubos
doesn't need to answer that ;)).

Hi there,
in Windows 7 I like this preview feature very much that shows a preview of a
program even if it is minimized, when you hover with the mouse over the task
bar. I wonder, does any recent version of KDE have a clone of this Windows
feature? I currently run KDE 4.3.5 with Compiz and it does not have this cool
preview feature.

Hi,
today was supposed to be a kde meeting, yeah I also forgot =P
We currently have no one who will make sure the meeting will be run.
Right now this was mostly up to wstephenson and llunak and there is no
handling in case they can't make it (in case of llunak he isn't even fulltime
kde team member anyways)
So it'd be nice if one or two persons could make sure the meeting will run in
a somewhat fashion, the last meetings were rather quick anyway.
Btw this is not about running the meeting or doing the logs, more making sure
someone will kick it off.
Cheers,
Karsten

Right now KDE:Release:45 has python-kde4 4.5.3.
Never played so much with _links. But it seems the
rev="f841ee5aae520476443ab59c344308a7" doesn't exists ¿?

After a reboot are the desktop effects always off.
Using alt shift F12 or via the system settings I can switch the deskto
effects on. Then everything works correctly.
How can I achieve that desktop effects are kept on between reboots ?
Thanks, Hans

Bob's mail doesn't make it absolutely clear, so we are guessing. If he
migrated his contacts to an akonadi-enabled addressbook there should be a
bunch of individual vcards (not a vcard file, as std.vcf was) in
~/.local/share/contacts. If he can see them in his file manager, then he
needs to check Akonadi Resources to make sure that the new addressbook
(Personal Contacts, by default) is pointing to that directory. If he can't
see them in a file manager, he hasn't managed to migrate them.
The migration is non-destructive, by which I mean that std.vcf will be
untouched. This is easily checked. Again, in a file manager, look at
~/.kde4/share/apps/kabc/ and check that std.vcf is a sensible size. You can
open it in a text editor, to see the contents, too. If it is smaller than you
expect, look at the backup files - std.vcf_1 etc - and make that your main one
(delete std.vcf in that case and copy std.vcf_1 pasting it as std.vcf).
You can add a legacy vcf file as a resource, but it is better to get the
akonadi-enabled one working. You will find a lot of related information at
http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi_and_AddressBook

Ouch! This could be a showstopper for me using KDE 4.5.x
All my contacts in KAddressbook have suddenly disappeared. I can't think of
anything specific I might have been doing to trigger this. I don't look at my
contacts very frequently, so I don't know when it happened, but it was
sometime in the past 3 or 4 days.
In Kontact > Contacts I have tried File > New > Add Address Book, where I
selected VCard File. I browsed to ~/.kde4/share/apps/kabc where I selected
std.vcf but my Contacts list is still completely empty.
I have Nepomuk running. When the Akonadi server starts up, it reports an
error, but the list of files have all got green checkmarks except two with red
crosses, which were called something like 'Previous akonadi error log found'.
Anything else needed to debug this?

To get yahoo webcam working in kopete, we need to instal jasper library.
Can we add this library as recommended in spec file for kopete?

there's a problem using openOffice.org repos (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/OpenOffice.org:/), stable as well as unstable, with KDE 4.5.2. (there's a forum thread about this here: http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php?t=448801 -- at least one other user noticed the same problem.)
openOffice crashes when trying to "view data source" (F4) with an error message about floating point this-or-that (don't have it installed anymore, and didn't have debug sources installed at the time). i noticed a similar problem a few months ago, which was solved by changing java from openjkd to sun. at this time i was using sun's java already, and even installed different versions (1.5, 1.6, 1.7), all of which produced the same error.
next i upgraded to OO.o unstable, with the same result. for good measure i tried replacing the OO.o repo with libreOffice, also getting the same result. thinking it might have to do with the latest nvidia driver (260.19.12), which seems to cause problems for many KDE 4.5.2 users i disabled the nvidia driver, running nuveau instead, and logged into the awesome destop env.
under awesome libreOffice worked fine, displaying "data sources" without crash--even after i re-enabled the latest nvidia driver. this leads me to think that there's a problem between openSUSE's OO.o repos & KDE 4.5.2.
next i installed OO.o from it's original website, version 3.3 (RC), and found that this works--with or without nvidia driver, and under KDE 4.5.2 as well: no crashes. at present i'm still using sun java 1.7 (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Java:/sun:/Factory/), but i'll try the stable OO.o tarball and different java versions later today.
i'm not sure now where this bug comes from: KDE, openOffice, or go-office, which seems to be the source of the openSUSE OO.o repos. what should i do now?
