Today I saw an update for digikam from 4.6.0-2.1 to 4.6.0-3.1 in
factory.
This came with the same for digikam-doc -- a 19.3 MiB download.
Curious on what might have changed I ran "md5sum `rpm -ql digikam-doc`"
before and after the update. The only difference was this:
< 6c48dddeaa281f26f3067929718cbe7a /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/digikam/index.cache.bz2
> e6e1b8b7b18c27bc841544372e6185fa /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/digikam/index.cache.bz2
< 5cb9c3b41f6a0d8562aee3d5d6f212ac /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/showfoto/index.cache.bz2
> c4849c0707407b18e8853e40139082f1 /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/showfoto/index.cache.bz2
So, 19.3 MiB download for, hmm, really nothing?
19.3 MiB may not appear much if one sits in the office or at home
with a DSL line. When I was in Indonesia earlier this year, that
would have been 10-15 minutes of download in most placed, possibly
with one, two, or three restarts. Any chance to avoid this kind of
update? (And, are those index.cache.bz2 files really necessary?)

This is about digikam from KDE:/Extra for openSUSE 13.1
( http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Extra/openSUSE_13.1/ )
After a recent update (via the regular gpk-update-viewer I believe)
digikam from KDE:/Extra refused to start on a friend's openSUSE 13.1
system.
# digikam
Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceAdded(QDBusObjectPath)
Object::connect: No such signal org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceRemoved(QDBusObjectPath)
digikam: symbol lookup error: digikam: undefined symbol: _ZN7KGeoMap14GeoCoordinatesC1Ev
After looking into this a bit, I figured I'd give updating libkgeomap2
a try:
# zypper -v in libkgeomap2-4.6.0-35.1
The following package is going to be REMOVED:
libkgeomap1 3.5.0-7.3
The following 2 packages are going to be upgraded:
libkgeomap-lang 4.5.0-30.1 -> 4.6.0-35.1
libkgeomap2 4.5.0-29.1 -> 4.6.0-35.1
Retrieving package libkgeomap2-4.6.0-35.1.x86_64
Retrieving: libkgeomap2-4.6.0-35.1.x86_64.rpm
Retrieving package libkgeomap-lang-4.6.0-35.1.noarch
Retrieving: libkgeomap-lang-4.6.0-35.1.noarch.rpm
Installing: libkgeomap2-4.6.0-35.1
Installing: libkgeomap-lang-4.6.0-35.1
And indeed after this everything works again.
Is this a missing / too weak dependency?

I'm using OpenSuse 13.1 KDE4 on several laptops and a desktop.
I've had a frustrating week trying to copy a working KDE4 KDEPIM (4.11.5) from
a laptop over to my desktop.
Creating a KMAIL backup resulted in a zip file that I copied over only to find
no mail in it.
Copying over the .local local-mail folder at least got the mail, but not
addresses or other stuff.
I'm about to do a completely fresh re-install of OpenSuse 13.1 KDE and then I
want to copy over the rest of the installation so that everything works.
Can someone outline the recommended method of doing this, or should I move to
Opensuse 13.2 for a later version of KDE?
Suggestions, please?

Hi all,
on https://en.opensuse.org/KDE_repositories#Current_KDE_SC_release
I read
"As that KDE 4.14 is the last major release for KDE 4, we will just provide maintenance updates for openSUSE 13.2. It would not make sense to make KDE:Current build for openSUSE 13.2 if we deliver the same through maintenance updates."
However I think I did not see any update to 14.12 or now 14.12.1 yet.
Is this planned ?

openSUSE Tw
Klipper used to come with all of its regexps and actions visible from the
"Configure Kipper" dialogue, but no longer. Selecting a url and choosing
Konqueror appears to only call the default browser assigned in "System
Settings" -> "Default Application", which I have assigned Firefox. Where
are the pre-defined klipper regexps actions stored?
Changing the default web browser from "in the foowing browser"/firefox to
"in an application based on the contents of the URL" defaults to Konqueror
for web browser but correctly initiate your choice.
I think that choosing Konqueror to open an url, should use konqueror and
not firefox.
Is this a bug and needs reporting? Or am I expecting something I
shouldn't?

Dear KDE Users,
Given that openSUSE 12.3 is no longer actively supported, the openSUSE
KDE Community team received the request to remove the openSUSE 12.3
targets for the KDE repositories.
This effectively means that for the KDE:Current, KDE:Extra,
KDE:Unstable:Extra building is stopped for the openSUSE 12.3 based
targets and the related packages would be removed as of February 1.
Users are encouraged to upgrade to either openSUSE 13.1 or openSUSE 13.2.
Regards
Your openSUSE KDE Community Team
