Hi there.
Since the default browser is a recurring topic with every openSUSE release, I
decided to create a small feature matrix (from a KDE point of view) at
http://en.opensuse.org/KDE/Ideas/11.3#Web_Browser to make a more informed
decision once the time comes to agree on one browser.
Please update the feature matrix with other KDE-releated features I might have
missed and when a feature status changes (eg. Chromium becoming compatible
with KDE's GTK theme engine wrapper).
Bye

Hello!
In KDE:Backports and openSUSE:Factory, there is the (almost) latest version
of KMyMoney available but there is no kmm_kbanking plugin. Is there a
specific reason for this like license issues?
BTW, there seems to be a OBS project providing the plugin:
home:NicoK:banking

Hello,
does anybody know how to set Konqueror to use WebKit as default rendering
engine for Konqueror instead of KHTML? It is possible to change it only for
current tab and it is neccessary to do every startup and opening of new tab,
which is very boring... It is possible to change it only in menu View | View
mode, but it does not change default value...

Hello,
as said, I have updated the wiki pages about bug squashing .
http://en.opensuse.org/KDE/BugSquashing is the howto,
http://en.opensuse.org/KDE/BugSquashing/Bugreports is the current status
(this time even with prepared bugzilla queries for each item). Please check,
and we can start.
If somebody is already way too eager to start right now :), feel free to.
Note that the 'old <whatever>' items are the easier ones, suitable also for
new contributors, so if you consider yourself experienced, please try the
upstream/review items first.

Is there anyone here who is responsible for fixing and getting kaffeine
into the 'system'?
I provided some information to Christoph Pfister to locate a problem I
found regarding lack of sound on some TV channels. On 18 October,
Christoph wrote to me:
"Ok, I've found the problem (and fixed it in svn; some ac3 audio streams
weren't detected correctly).
Thanks,
Christoph"
This is now the end of November and the problem with the sound is still there. The version of kaffeine I am running (in 11.2) is still showing as version 0.91+1.0pre2-5.1.
Does anyone know when Christoph's "fix" will be finally implemented?

I don't see any kind of meta package to get KDE3 installed, so after
completing a fresh install with only XFCE selected (neither Gnome nor KDE4) I
just looked to see what the mirrors have and used zypper to in the ones I
thought necessary. That didn't work.
http://fm.no-ip.com/tmp/SUSE/112/kdepkg-kt880.txt lists what kde & x11
packages are currently installed. What else do I need? Is there some kind a
meta package to make installation easier? I see other "patterns" installed,
but zypper can't find patterns-openSUSE-kde3.
Right now the only X I can get is some kind of simple xterm by using startx,
as I did zypper rm all of XFCE in hopes that all that would be left would be
KDE3.
/usr/bin/startkde3 exists, but doesn't start KDE3, giving "cannot open
display", "$DISPLAY is not set", "ksmserver: cannot connect to server"
messages instead. Appending :0 or :1 to the command does not help.
init 5 fails to start KDM, blanking the screen for a while before dumping me
back to the login prompt I used to do init 5.
http://fm.no-ip.com/tmp/SUSE/112/kdmlog-kt880.txt is kdm.log after attempting
init 5 with two different versions of xorg.conf, then with no xorg.conf.
http://fm.no-ip.com/tmp/SUSE/112/Xorg0log.startkde3.kt880.txt is Xorg.0.log
from startkde3 with no xorg.conf file.
http://fm.no-ip.com/tmp/SUSE/112/xorg-sax2-kt880.conf is the xorg.conf file
generated by sax2.
Hmmm. Just put Option "NoRandr" in xorg.conf and commented 'Load "glx"', and
startx gets me a KDE3 session.
http://fm.no-ip.com/tmp/SUSE/112/xorg.conf.0f-1600x1200x120x16bpp-mga is the
currently working xorg.conf. init 5 still won't start KDM.
http://fm.no-ip.com/tmp/SUSE/112/Xorg0log.kt880.init5.txt is Xorg.0.log from
trying.
Does KDM 3 work for others?

Is there some other source for KDM configuration than kdmrc? When I change
UseTheme to no and LogoArea to clock, the clock does not appear, and I cannot
tell whether some theme other than KDE default (whatever that is supposed to
look like) is being used. Only by replacing kdm-branding-openSUSE with
kdm-branding-upstream do I get a clock and what looks like a generic theme.
11.2-29.30.1 is installed kdm version.
Why isn't kdmrc in the /etc tree, where global config files belong?

I have added you (and welcome, I'm rather impressed that there is somebody
actually willing to step up and take care of the KDE3 repo). If you would
need any help, feel free to ask on IRC or the mailing list.

hi,
i have the latest patch level of opensuse 11.0, 32bit installation. i use kde 3.5 desktop. from time to time when
administrating a windows vmware server image with vmware server console 1.0.7 it happens that the keyboard does become
not fully functional on kde -- all special keys like capslock, shift, control, f-keys do not work on kde. but they do
work inside the vm window. currently this is the case. can't type uppercase letters. other users with the same os
release but with vmware workstation 6.5 report the same issue occasionally.
any idea what causes this problem [questionmark]
thanks in advance
regards,
bernd
