I've been poking at this one for a little while now without much
success. Using openSUSE 11.4 and KDE 4.6.2.
I've got a few applications - the games from HumbleBundle 2 - that
have been added to the KMenu by their installers. When I navigate to
the applications in the KMenu, the icons are showing, but there is no
text next to the icons (Application name field is empty). A mouse
hover shows the app names in grey text in the Description field.
If I go to the KMenu editor and check the entries, they are filled in
correctly - there is a name in the Name field, and the Description
fields are all blank. If I add text to the Description field, save
and exit the editor, the new Descriptions I've added are not shown on
mouse hover, and the Application name is still not showing.
Has anyone else seen this?

I've been finishing the branding work for 11.3 this week, and have been
documenting how to do it as I go. The first draft is attached. Comments? If
I was hit by a bus tomorrow, could you do openSUSE 11.4 branding? (Lubos
doesn't need to answer that ;)).

Hi all,
I recently upgraded my 11.4 install to 4.6.2 from the default 4.6.0
(?) version using the KDE:Release:46 repos, in addition to performing
a "zypper dup" to upgrade my entire system. After the upgrade, kdm
wouldn't let me log in. If I try to enter the password of the username
created during the first install...it kicks me back to kdm. I had to
drop down to the shell and create a new username through YaST. The new
username and password now works properly.
Why could this be happening? Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi there,
I want to access kmix with qdbus from the command line, but I have not much
clue about D-Bus so I wonder about the right syntax.
I see I have the kmix D-Bus running:
qdbus org.kde.kmix
/kmix/KMixWindow/actions/increase_volume
/kmix/KMixWindow/actions/decrease_volume
What is now the correct qdbus command to change volume?
Thanx
Malte

Hi all,
yesterday I updated my KDE 4.6.2 using the K:R:46 repository. kmix was
not involved in the update.
However, now I have the following problem: amarok and kmix are
launched at login and if I play a mp3 file, kmix goes to 100% of a cpu
until I kill it, even if I close amarok.
The same problem occurs using smplayer or vlc to play the same file.
Please note that I had no problems before yesterday playing the same
file (or completely different one, like a flv file) using amarok,
smplayer or vlc.
Do you have some idea on how to track/solve this problem?
Regards,
Andrea

Hi,
what is the status of mounting/umounting an external
hard disk with encrypted partition?
In 11.3, after plugging the hard disk, an icon for an
encrypted container with an open padlock will apper in
the device notifier applet.
Clicking on such icon will prompt for a password
After providing the correct password, the encrypted
container will show a closed padlock and a new icon
of a removable media will appear. Clicking on such
icon will finally mount the encripted partition.
To remove, the reverse sequence is necessary:
first click on the removable media icon to
dismount it, then click on the encrypted container
icon: the removable media icon will disappear and
an open padlock image will show that the content
of the encrypted container is not accessible anymore.
with halmount the command sequence will be:
halmount /dev/sdb1 (prompt for a password)
halmount /dev/dm-0 (mount the partition)
and to dismount:
halmount -u /dev/dm-0
halmount -u /dev/sdb1
Now on 11.4:
I plug the hard disk, the encrypted container icon
with an open padlock appears in device notifier applet.
Clicking on such icon will prompt for a password.
After providing the correct password, the content of the
encrypted container is accessible AND the encripted
partition is mounted. But in the device notifier applet
the encrypted container icon will still show an open padlock
and no icon for the newly avalable removable media appears.
After that it's not possible to remove the mounted
encrypted partition with the device notifier applet.
I'm also failing to access the encrypted partition
using udisks. The command:
udisks --mount /dev/sdb1
fails with the error message:
Mount failed: Not a mountable file system
I know that udisks is aware of luks encrypted partitions:
/usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.udisks.policy
contains an action like:
action id="org.freedesktop.udisks.luks-unlock"
to unlock an encrypted device.
The udisks man page does not have any mention about
how to unlock an encrypted device so I assume that
using the --mount option will do it, but that's not
the case.
Anyone know how to use udisks to mount an encrypted
device?
Of course I can use cryptsetup and mount/unmount,
but I would like to do it as a normal user,
as I was able in 11.3.
Thanks.

Hello,
all System Monitors on the KDE (KR46) Plasmoid Desktop show only
"Temporary Partitions" but not the "sensorsd" information, since
some days.
More detailed information you can find in the following Forum entry
