Last times, I were using Linux Redhat versions in my laptop. Now, I've moved
to SuSE 8.0, and my troubles begins when I decided to move my profile (mail,
GPG keys and ring, etc.) to SuSE.
First, I was using KDE 3.0.4 recompiled in Redhat from sources. So, as with
SuSE came the same KDE version, I just tried to copy the Mail directory to my
$HOME. Also copied the GnuPG data, and my konqueror and mail addresses.
Everything seems to be working but kMail has now a weird behaviour. If I
tried to open some e-mail saved previously in redhat, kMail only show a
"Nobody" for sender, and "no subject", and the mail seems to have no content.
With the new mails, everything works okay.

Has anyone found a work around for changing permissions of directories in Konq
? In the Properties dialogue box it is possible to change permissions. But
there is also a check box for permissions to be changed recursively in
directories beneath the current one. This is not working and I am forced find
other means to do the job. Is it possible to fix this ?
Found it ! Konq does change the permissions. You have to hit reload for it to
show the changes.

I am using Quanta Plus 3.0-pr1, which came with SuSE 8.1
Pro. I can only resize the window vertically, and not
horizontally. It is wider than my screen at 768 x 1024. Is
there a work-around for this? Is there a later version, and
if so, where can i find an rpm for 8.1?

I read somewhere that it is possible to set the Desktop Wallpaper to a
Background Program e.g. Konqueror.
Does anyone know this works? Any experience?
Sorry if I am bothering anyone with little test e-mail, but I have send e-mail
to the mailing list and was wondering why i have not seen any response on my
mails from me nur anyone else.
Maybe I am doing something wrong. Is there a proceedure that I must go threw
to get posted in these e-mail transaction list as a registered SuSe 8.1 new
Thanks for your patients and time.
Does anyone know what font is used for the Panel? I list my desktops by
name rather than number and would like to change the size of the font
for those names. Is there a way to do this? I already have the Panel
size set to tiny.
p.s. this is KDE 3.0.4 on SuSE 8.0
I don't know if this will solve my problem but I found one note in Suse
Support about this problem : "When you try to start single YaST2 modules
from the KDE Control Center, you only obtain a grey screen" this is what is
happenning in my computer after updating to KDE 3.0.4 from original KDE
3.0.0 then in this note instruct to download the files : Kdebase3-SuSE.rpm &
susewm.rpm from sites : ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/8.0/kde1/ &
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/8.0/xwm1/ and install with :
rpm -Uhv package_name.rpm. This in principle have to solve my problem but
also Patrick commented to me that "SuSE 8.0 kde files had a bug in the
kdelibs3 update files and could cause some of the problems you mentioned.
The solution was to compile from the src.rpm of kdelibs3 for your system and
then install that resulting rpm. That would cure any problems you were
experiencing." Then I downloaded the kdelibs3-3.0.5-0.i386.rpm for updating
directly to KDE 3.0.5 and also kdebase3-3.0.4-32.i386.rpm but I don't know
if I have to install 1st this and after kdebase3-Suse.rpm or it doesn't
matter. Also I downloaded qt3-non-mt-3.0.5.i386.rpm.
I hope that with all this updates I will be able to run KDE 3.0.5 propertly
in my SUSE 8.0.
I will advise to you my result, also if anybody knows abt this problem and
already solved it pls advise.
Is it a good idea to recompile my kernel after the installation and everything
is running great? Iam trying to get ride of some annoying kernel errors as
well as speed up the boot process. Any suggestions?
