[opensuse-kde] Request for testing: KF5 based Firefox integration

Hi, as you may know the KDE Firefox integration is still based on old KDE4. A KDE Frameworks 5 and Qt 5 based version has been lying around in a git repo for a while, with just a few minor issues left to fix. Those should be gone now and so I'll ask all users of Firefox on Plasma 5 here to install this and use it for a while before submitting it and filing a delete request against mozilla-kde4-integration. The new package is called kmozillahelper and for now living in mozilla:experimental: https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=mozilla%3Aexperimental&… Currently it does not build for 42.1 but a fix for that is already submitted. [opensuse-kde] run as a different user

Applicable to: Leap 42.2 , Tumbleweed. When creating a new icon on the desktop, link to Application. Setting in tab application in advanced options the following items: 1 Run in terminal 2 do not close when command exits. Til sofar everything works as expected. After setting "run as different user" using root or a nonpriv user the icon does not work anymore. Question: 1.Is this new and normal behaviour that a can no longer use u different user in a link to a command ? [opensuse-kde] A technical inquiry about failures of a new installation of KDE PIM5 in 42.2 fresh install

I am in connection with a user of opensuse-de (carbon copy) that does speak a very limited amount of English. As the bug reporting will require that I do a courtesy translation, in order to check if the problem is eventually easily to be fixed, I do report here his findings. He will receive courtesy translation of your answer, as well as the original. I am aware that this is a bit unusual but that's the way it is, as I do find that this will be easier then to do every time copy and paste or to translate on the site all the exchanges in two languages. (There is no opensuse-bugzilla in German, is there? After all I would like to see potential problems of migration fixed in my own interest (as I will have to do the very same in the future). Condition: a) the user has used archives to backup the mail b) the user did import the archives in a temporary directory in kmail c) the user then redistributed the mail After the very first start he did get an error message: "Im E-Mail-Programm ist ein schwerwiegender Fehler aufgetreten. Das Programm wird beendet. Die Fehlermeldung lautet: Could not create collection inbox, resourceId: 3" Resulting was a very instable Kmail so he did run akonadictl fsck and aconadictl vaccuum. Where the German bit is: Your E-Mail-Programm has suffered an sever Error. The Programm will be terminated. The error message is........ After this the Programm seamed to start normally. But in fact it isn't as apparently he cannot see mails, he cannot shift folders. His findings: In top and normal operations he can see 5 processes for kontakt and about 20 for Akonadi. In the error log he gets (after running fsck and vaccuum): Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString)Cannot resume a timer that is not paused.Cannot resume a timer that is not paused.Cannot resume a timer that is not paused.Cannot pause an inactive timer In the console he has also the output: QIODevice::write (KTcpSocket): device not open When trying to shift folders within Kmail this fails. As it is a new install it should work quite well I thought.... Especially because archiving AFAIK does run only if the index is integer. [opensuse-kde] Digikam, etc. cannot upload from iPhone 6S

Not sure if this is a KDE or Solid (or other) issue . . . sorry for message length but trying to include all relevant data I know of . . . Digikam has worked great importing/deleting photos from iPhone 6S for a year, working on 13.2. I recently upgraded 13.2 => 42.1 => 42.2 about a month ago. I can't honestly say whether this problem arose with the Leap upgrade, or with an update since. When Digikam opens it displays the following error message: The specified camera ("/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/ pci0000:00/0000:00:12.2/usb1/1-1/1-1:4.2/net/eth2") is not supported. ~>lsusb shows the camera as: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05ac:12a8 Apple, Inc. Switching to a different port , , , ~>lsusb Bus 004 Device 003: ID 05ac:12a8 Apple, Inc. Digikam then throws this error when started: The specified camera ("/org/kde/solid/udev/sys/devices/ pci0000:00/0000:00:13.2/usb4/4-2/4-2:4.2/net/eth1") is not supported. Yet still Digikam (and other photo apps) autodetects the phone. It is shown under the Import menu, and when Import for the phone is selected the second Digikam windows opens. At bottom it shows the correct camera media capacity and amount used, while under the Device menu it shows the phone is recognized on the correct usb port. It shows that upload and delete are supported functions. But it cannot see the photo files. (It is seen as an "iPhone5 (PTP mode)"; gphoto2 --list-cameras does not show iPhone6 but that was not a problem before; the udev hwdb shows the same phone ID for both iPhone5 and iPhone6. Tested this with my wife's iPhone 5 and the errors were the same.) gphoto2: --list-ports sees the correct port --list-folders sees the "store_feedface" folder but no files. --abilities shows iPhone 5 with USB support, file preview and upload = yes When I try kio camera:/ in Dolphin I get: camera:/Apple%2520iPhone%25205%2520(PTP%2520mode)@usb:001,002/ An "Apple iPhone 5 (PTP Model)" folder appears with the sub-folder "store_feedface" but no DCIM folder nor any photos. When I try gtkam it can see the iPhone "store-feedface" but not DCIM, no files. Experimenting with this app I once got this error, too: An error occurred in the io-library ('Could not claim the USB device'): Could not claim interface 0 (Device or resource busy). Make sure no other program (gvfs-gphoto2-volume-monitor) or kernel module (such as sdc2xx, stv680, spca50x) is using the device and you have read/write access to the device. Similarly, when I tried Shotwell it threw: Unable to fetch previews from the camera: Could not claim the USB device (-53) But strangely, darktable uploads (and deletes) the iPhone files even though it uses libgphoto2.so.6 just as all the other apps do. Still works fine with my Canon A570. Digikam Version 5.4.0 Using: KDE Frameworks 5.26.0 Qt 5.6.1 (built against 5.6.1) My suspicion is that the problem is connect to the error "could not claim USB device", as I've seen that several times. Just a wild-ass guess. I checked Bugzilla KDE and Solid, found multiple instances of PTP cameras being recognized but files not retrievable over the last ~5 years. But nothing recent. I did find a 2011 bug report on Ubuntu Launchpad which was reported again in Dec claiming a regression in Digikam, but it wasn't verified. (And that was Digikam4, not 5). Any suggestions where to look further? Again, apologies for length. TIA, Dennis P.S. KDE folks might want to note that the Device Notifier entry always displays the camera twice rather than just once when it's attached, and when the "Open with File Manager" option is chosen, the app errors on not finding the KDE4 version of Dolphin: KDEInit could not launch 'dolphin4': Could not open library 'libkdeinit5_dolphin4'. [opensuse-kde] Plasmashell troubleshooting

Hi everyone, I installed tumbleweed last week fresh ( with a new homedir). Unfortunately plasmashell has issues currently. Its regularly freezing and need to be killed and restarted. My Guess is that its caused by an inhouse Qt Application around our CRM Tool. Because also copying something to clipboard from this application causes plasmashell to freeze fro 30 to 60 seconds. [opensuse-kde] KMail filters delete mail when processing local maildir

I've updated my system yesterday evening, which got me the new KMail. Today KMail deleted an entire folder worth of mail (and some of another) because the filter that sorts incoming mail there was set to also process the local maildir. Upon selecting that folder KMail apparently decided it should move the mails into the same folder they already were in, and in the process actually deleted them. I don't understand how it's even possible to program a mailmove that it breaks in this way, but on the off-chance that anybody knows knows how to reclaim the mails, please let me know. I have a backup from a month ago, so I'll get the old mails back anyway, but it actually started with the newest mails. Version 4.14.10 Platform Version 4.14.9 opensuse 13.2 Two problems with Kmail: connected? one, when an email is moved to one sub folder, it come back up in the in box as well as the sub folder, Then it can be deleted. Two, certain files do not delete, They are greyed out in the inbox, The message pane contains the previous email contents. If I then try to delete one of these again, The message pane shows the message Retrieving folder Contents Please wait Then I can have to ctl-alt-esc to kill the Kmail The I can restart Kmail and it works unless I try to delete one of those files What should I do about this? -- Bob Rea www.petard.us www.petard.us/blog What should you say to Jesus when he returns? Hi, according to https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kde-distro-packagers/2016-December/000246.ht… there is a regression in plasma-integration 5.8.5. It causes several programs (e.g., Okular and Kate) to show an "Open File" dialog instead of a save dialog.
