openSUSE 12.1 x86_64, ATI catalyst / fglrx driver 11.12, KDE 4.7.2 I assumed this was just some quirk only affecting myself, but maybe I'll ask if anyone else is seeing this. Whenever I right click to open a context menu, it briefly draws some corrupt garbage looking stuff where the context menu should be. It quickly disappears and the context menu is drawn properly... ? This happens with 'desktop effects' enabled or disabled. [opensuse-kde] KDE4.6.2 (on 11.4) Kmenu names not showing

I've been poking at this one for a little while now without much success. Using openSUSE 11.4 and KDE 4.6.2. I've got a few applications - the games from HumbleBundle 2 - that have been added to the KMenu by their installers. When I navigate to the applications in the KMenu, the icons are showing, but there is no text next to the icons (Application name field is empty). A mouse hover shows the app names in grey text in the Description field. If I go to the KMenu editor and check the entries, they are filled in correctly - there is a name in the Name field, and the Description fields are all blank. If I add text to the Description field, save and exit the editor, the new Descriptions I've added are not shown on mouse hover, and the Application name is still not showing. [opensuse-kde] Cannot add self created program menues to panel

Hi Folks, I have instaleld openSuSE 21.1 64-Bit, and I am using KDE for my work. My current KDE realease is: Plattform-Version 4.7.2 (4.7.2) "release 5" If I try to add a program menu either self created with kmenuedit or an already available menu (e.g. multimedia) going over... Kickoff application launcher -> applications -> multimedia so it should be possible to add the multimedia menu to to the panel by clicking on the right mouse button and selecting "add to panel". However, the menu entry is not added to the panel, the whole applcations are added to the panel. Any hints or ideas? Hi mates, I packaged qupzilla in KDE:Extra and also I'm preparing git snapshots in my repo¹. Since some time, qupzilla contains shared library libqupzilla-so. And here we are. Should I put this lib into separate subpackage named 'libqupzilla%{so_version}' and 'libqupzilla.so' into 'libqupzilla-devel' package? Or shoud I keep them all in one package, like now? [opensuse-kde] KDE4.8 and webdav in Dolphin

I've setup and have been using OwnCloud since installing openSUSE 12.1. Today I decided I wasted to set up a WebDav link in Dolphin. This is documented here: http://owncloud.org/support/webdav/ but is applicable to an older version of KDE/Dolphin I've added the WebDav link to the "Places area (Right-click, Add entry), but.. there seems to be no way I can save my login credentials.. so every time I want to use the WebDav link, I have to enter my credentials (not just on opening the view in Dolphin, but on every single read/write action as well). Is there something I'm missing? Or... The end result is I want to sync my entire /home to my OwnCloud server.. but getting there is proving to be interesting. Any tips or direction here? [opensuse-kde] Looking for nice KDE task dock

Hey, I am looking for a qute task dock for KDE 4.7. I would love to see a mixture of Daisy and Fancy Tasks. Daisy is nice, but it does not have much mouse over effects. Fancy Tasks has nice mouse over effects, but does not allow to put the dock bar to arbitrary corners. Does anyone know a doc bar that combines the best from both, Daisy and Fancy tasks? [opensuse-kde] Kmail adding HTML To email

Messages being sent by Kmail are going out with: Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="nextPart1432777.NnblbCsYIU" This causes them to be rejected because of the HTML part on some mailing list at openSUSE and others. I do not have html turned on as best I can tell. Under configure Kontact --> Composer --> General the check box for Reply using HTML if present is unchecked. Also under Security --> Composing It just has the defaults and under Reading HTML options are off. When I type in new email with the composer it arrives with both text and html. Is there a place I can change the content type default? I have 12.2 installed and have not been able to test it yet because my smtp is not working on 12.2. Will search bugs and turn one in. Any help with the above would be appreciated. [opensuse-kde] disabling crash handler

Hi, I have a very annoying problem. Some programs (notably amarok and kactivitymanagerd) crash. But when I start them from the command line, with -- nocrashhandler to capture a core so I can debug the crashes, they don't crash anymore. Is there any way to disable the crash handler globally in kde? I want the cores so I can debug the crashes. [opensuse-kde] kmail2 crash after google calendar, now not synchronizing imap account

I originally tried sending this from kmail, and as I have since learned, for some reason now sending from kmail doesn't work from my gmail to this list. It says that the email is sent, but a search of the archives doesn't show it ever was received. So I am sending this now again from thunderbird. _______________ Howdy, Using openSUSE 12.1 and KDE 4.7.4 and Kmail 4.7.4. The other day I tried to load the google calendar connection on akonadi. I tried to add a new calendar resource of the type "ical" and provided the location as the URL provided by google calendar. As soon as I did this, I lost my desktop, system tray, taskbar, and anything else associated with X except for a few things. The way this happened is my regular windows that I already had open I could alt-tab between, but my desktop background was black, the kicker and the entire lower bar where the system tray and taskbar reside were not there. Right clicking on the desktop would not give any menus. I was able to do alt-f2 and run an application that way. I tried to reboot and it was the same thing, except that for about 2 seconds I was able to access one of my panels long enough to start up kontact again. I re-booted a couple of times with the same effect. Finally I started up kontact again and removed the google calendar resource. Once it was removed, everything went back to normal. Except not everything, as I assumed. From that point on, Kmail2 stopped synchronizing one of my imap accounts. I have 3 imap accounts - 2 with gmail and 1 with yahoo. The imap account with gmail that I have set as my default account has not synchronized any email since last thursday. It also will not send. It says it sends the email by the indicator in the lower right corner, but it actually does not, because when I test send an email from that account to one of my other accounts, I never receive the email. I have verified that the problem is not with the server itself, for I can send and receive imap email on this account using thunderbird without any problem. [opensuse-kde] Remove/hide the Desktop Toolbox aka Cashew?

I'm constantly being hounded by everyone I help install openSUSE... they all.. 100%... hate the Desktop Toolbox (aka Cashew) and want it removed. In another era (around openSUSE 11.0 timeframe) I was able to put ShowDesktopToolbox=false in one of the the ~/.kde4/share/config rc files and restart Plasma... and it'd be gone. That doesn't seem to work anymore (at least not when I try to add it to plasma-desktop-appletsrc). There have been loads of KDE.org bugs opened requesting a config option to hide or remove the Desktop Toolbox (Cashew), and they've all been closed as WONTFIX by Aaron (dev over at KDE... he absolutely refuses to consider the requests and gets VERY grumpy when anyone asks about it) Stealth Cashew seems to be available by default in 12.1 (or did I install it and forget?), but it fails with a ruby-script error. (as an aside: If it is there by default, why aren't the the bits needed to run it also installed?) I managed to sort out the missing bits so that Ruby based Plasmoids will run... I launched the Stealth Cashew widget, set the sliders to completely transparent... and nothing, it didn't work. I dug around and found Py-Cashew on KDE-Look.org. After installing it, it fails with a "Could not create a python ScriptEngine for the Py-Cashew widget" error. i tried all the usual tricks like installing python-devel to try and get it working, but nothing.. it simply fails. So.. what options are left here... I've got people asking me why they can't remove it, and really pestering me to get rid of it... and so far I've got nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions?
