How to Remote display and put in specific desktop

Ok, time to call in the "Big BoyZ" (yup that's all of u).... How can I send a display to another machine and specify to be put on certain desktop? I've tried a combination of things using "display" and "kstart -desktop 2" and still displays it on the current desktop. Let's say.. I want to display an image from one machine to a second one, but on the second one I'd like it to go to desktop 2. Thanks, Jaime Escobedo

Problems with KDE in SLES10

Hi I have SLES10 installed , it has juk mulimedia player and kopete IM client. My problem is (1) Juk player not playing mp3 files (2) kopete is not connecting any account . I understand Juk uses some back ends , but whenever i try to play mp3 files by using juk , the play status bar moves very quickly and ends with in 2 seconds . With kopete , i created my accounts , but it own't connect any of my accounts . I have defined my proxy information in konqueror , but still it own't connect. Please , anyone give suggestions to resolve this problem ? Thanks Shashi Kanth

alphabetisze bookmarks

is it possible to highlight & alphabetisze just a portion of the bookmarks in Kong browser? I have about 20 in a toolbar that I want to keep & alphabetisze the rest. .xsession-errors file grows up to 50GB

Hi friends. I have noticed that file .xsession-errors in my home directory grows and grows out of control. Since my KDE sessions last for many days or even weeks, I am forced to restart my machine from time to time. I have tried running kdebugdialog and disable all items, but it has no effect. Regards.

Multiple Concurrent KDE Logins On A Single Home Directory?

Hi, I recently tried a FreeNX login as a potential fallback while I sort out a problem with a KVM switch with a poor implementation of its USB hub. NX seems to work quite well, at least over a 100 megabit LAN and it seems like a good solution (and a lot cheaper than a four-port DVI / USB KVM!). However, as soon as I logged in, it occurred to me that I was already logged in directly to the same account on the target host. I quickly logged out of the NX session and have seen no evidence of any configuration file corruption from that brief login. But now I'm curious whether there is a problem either in principle or in practice with having two (or more) concurrent KDE logins to a single account / home directory. If anyone has experience with or knowlege of this situation, I'd appreciate hearing it. Randall Schulz

After Update from SuSE 10.0 to 10.1: kmail always crashes with SIGSEGV when exiting...

Hi Folks, at EVERY(!!!) exit of KMail KMail crashes with SIGSEGV. Because I have no debung version of KMail, the stacktrace only contains: #6 0x080bd35b in ?? () #7 0x68083f52 in ?? () #8 0xb706c140 in __after_morecore_hook () from /lib/libc.so.6 #9 0xb7d66795 in KMKernel::cleanup () from /opt/kde3/lib/libkmailprivate.so #10 0x0804a0d7 in ?? () #11 0xbfead224 in ?? () #12 0xbfead330 in ?? () #13 0x00000000 in ?? () I have configured an IMAP-box, but I don't use it. I access my emails via pop3. The KMail version in 1.9.1. Any ideas? Flash covering articles in Kong

every once in a while the NY Times has flash ads that cover the 1st part of an article in Kong...How can I stop it?? SPAM: KDE Login Dialogue on 3.5.5 - how to change it

HI I've just downloaded the latest KDE onto opensuse 10.1 and its reverted the login dialogue to old style one where you have all the error messages scrolling up. IS there anyway to go back to the previous style which i guess was a Novell one? And the error messages scrolling up insist there are duplicate key entries in the kdm_config - is there a way of killing that file and allowing it to be recreated with fresh details? thanks Ian

The mouse finger-pointer in KDE (3.5x) is ugly and annoying to use. (You know, the pointer you get when the normal arrow-pointer of the mouse is moved over, say, a URL link?) The finger is just too damn long! It just does not represent an average, normal human hand. It was quite nice in earlier versions of KDE. This finger pointer I suspect is simply a graphic file which is called at the appropriate time. If so, then this graphic would be editable ( via Gimp probably). Does anyone know, please, the name of this file containing this finger-pointer? (Or is this graphic actually hard-coded into some KDE module?) Cheers. -- "Every burned book enlightens the world." Synchronizing Kmail between two or more computers?

I would like to synchronize my local mail between two or maybe three computers. Basic idea would be to use rsync, maybe unison or even subversion, to upload local changes to an ssh server. kded eats 100% of the CPU on first wallet access

Hi, I've just upgraded my SUSE Linux from 9.3 to 10.1 x86_64, and have also updated KDE to 3.5.4, including kdelibs3 3.5.4-88.1. On logging in, the first time konqueror wants to open a KDE Wallet, a dialog box pops up asking for the wallet to be opened. Immediately after this, kded takes up all available CPU, possibly in an infinite busy loop. This looks like this bug (again ?!) http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64671 The fix to bug 64671 was in qt, so I tried downgrading qt3 from 3.3.6 to 3.3.5-58.3. This made no difference. The workaround is to kill kded, but then kwallet does not work. Should I file a bug on Novell bugzilla? Best, Paul Leopardi

Font problem after new fonts installed

After installing a number of new fonts, I am now having problems with the fonts selected by GTK apps, Firefox, and also in Konqueror when I browse some sites (like the Novell site). The font rendered is one of the ones I installed, not any of the fonts from the font chooser dialog. I have tried reapplying the theme, setting various fonts manually, etc. to no avail. I lost "knotes" completely - the program was not on my disk anymore. I had to revert back to "kdepim3-3.5.4-20.3.i586.rpm" to get "knotes" back. I used this site to download my KDE updates: http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_9.3/i586/ regards Ian

Hi, I'm using SuSE 10.1 with KDE, and Konqueror, 3.5.1 and when I try to acesse www.amazon.com i?m hijecked to "http://ad.doubleclick.net/adi/amazon.pilot/;type=inv_pixel;sz=1x1;ord=705?". When I use Firefox, that doesn't happen. Is this my first virus ? Regards Lívio Cipriano
