SPAM: KDE Login Dialogue on 3.5.5 - how to change it
HI I've just downloaded the latest KDE onto opensuse 10.1 and its reverted the login dialogue to old style one where you have all the error messages scrolling up. IS there anyway to go back to the previous style which i guess was a Novell one? And the error messages scrolling up insist there are duplicate key entries in the kdm_config - is there a way of killing that file and allowing it to be recreated with fresh details? thanks Ian

Samething happened to me. I fixed it by running the command "genkdmconf --no-old". Alvin

Same here. I corrected the problem by using my old kdmrc file, which was saved during the upgrade. -- Blade hails you... Who are you? Man condemned to shine a salvation Throughout the centuries --Nightwish

Thanks Alvin - worked a treat. That must be some mistake in the build somewhere to revert it all back instead of using the current settings. regards Ian

Hi list - slightly off topic... - I've got several SuSE9.2s and -9.3s that I could like to KDE-upgrade to the latest and finest. Where may I find how-to, gotcha's, downloads and other stuff to do it with. I usually work with YAST, RPMs and understand -tar.gz's and my SuSE in general. Any hint is (as always) appriciated! -- ------------------------------ Med venlig hilsen/Best regards Verner Kjærsgaard

Just add the SuSE KDE repository http://software.opensuse.org/download/KDE:/KDE3/SUSE_Linux_9.3 and then update all installed kde packages. (Type kde in the searchbox in yast software management and update any installed packages that are marked in blue). There is no repository for SuSE 9.2 there, though... you might try to find one elsewhere. -- Blade hails you...
