openSUSE 12.1 x86_64, ATI catalyst / fglrx driver 11.12, KDE 4.7.2 I assumed this was just some quirk only affecting myself, but maybe I'll ask if anyone else is seeing this. Whenever I right click to open a context menu, it briefly draws some corrupt garbage looking stuff where the context menu should be. It quickly disappears and the context menu is drawn properly... ? This happens with 'desktop effects' enabled or disabled. [opensuse-kde] KDE4.6.2 (on 11.4) Kmenu names not showing

I've been poking at this one for a little while now without much success. Using openSUSE 11.4 and KDE 4.6.2. I've got a few applications - the games from HumbleBundle 2 - that have been added to the KMenu by their installers. When I navigate to the applications in the KMenu, the icons are showing, but there is no text next to the icons (Application name field is empty). A mouse hover shows the app names in grey text in the Description field. If I go to the KMenu editor and check the entries, they are filled in correctly - there is a name in the Name field, and the Description fields are all blank. If I add text to the Description field, save and exit the editor, the new Descriptions I've added are not shown on mouse hover, and the Application name is still not showing. [opensuse-kde] Advice about availability of KDE 4.8 (for 12.1 as a for instance)

One of the great things about Linux is the variety of choices one has in using what one's heart desires. And the really great thing about openSUSE is this vast choice which one gets to select from when one wants to install something. Take for example the choice of repos when one comes to, say, something like KDE. There is the Factory repo. There is the Unstable repo. And there is Stable repo. Not to mention the Playground repo. Oh, I missed the SC repo. All good stuff. But what do they REALLY mean to the man in the street? SFA really. I am reading that KDE 4.8 has been officially released but as yet has not quite reached openSUSE repo(s) [something about being built, or something]. Would it be presumptuous of me to ask the powers-to-be to please clearly announce when KDE 4.8 becomes available and announce in, say, opensuse-announce and even in this mail list but to also CLEARLY state what the repos are and should be added to Software Management repository list to be able to upgrade one's (12.1 system, now running KDE 4.7) to KDE 4.8? Pretty please? But with another condition as an addendum: none of this KFC, CIA, ABC. et al local, gooblydook, jargon abbreviations but real, true to life, list of all the repositories required to get the job done such as (picked out of thin air): http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Unstable:/Playground/ [EXAMPLE ONLY!] OK? I am also adding the KDE and Gnome mailing list to this thread. Hopefully they can also see the idea behind this initiative and we would love to hear their input as well. Surely, since this initiative will tout into usability after it is completed, KDE and Gnome would like to hear the results. Hi, I'd like to use Digikam 2.5, which is available in KDE 4.8. Presently I use happily Opensuse 11.4 with KDE Updated Apps, Digikam 2.3 and everthing works fine apart from a little "feature" in Digikam which is fixed in 2.5, so adding the upstream release KR48 should be all that is necessary. I had tried an update to KDE 4.7 with Opensuse 11.4, later with 12.1 but both times run into a problem with kmail-migration. Solutions offered in mailing-list turned out to work not that well with my Kmail, so I stayed in 11.4, respectively kde 4.6. I'd like to give kmail-migration another try.
