Hi,
I'd like to use Digikam 2.5, which is available in KDE 4.8.
Presently I use happily Opensuse 11.4 with KDE Updated Apps, Digikam 2.3 and everthing works fine apart from a little "feature" in Digikam which is fixed in 2.5, so adding the upstream release KR48 should be all that is necessary.
I had tried an update to KDE 4.7 with Opensuse 11.4, later with 12.1 but both times run into a problem with kmail-migration. Solutions offered in mailing-list turned out to work not that well with my Kmail, so I stayed in 11.4, respectively kde 4.6.
I'd like to give kmail-migration another try. Has there been improvement in kmail-migration?

I'm sure there has, but whether it's "enough" I don't know.
My personal take is that you'll probably be a happier person in the long run, if you do a "fresh start".

I agree with you. But Opensuse 11.4 is the best I ever had and Digikam is the only program of which I presently would like an update.
My idea of a fresh start will be with 12.2 when official support for 11.4 will be discontinued. I think that is in just about 8 month.
