Hi there,
... I managed to adapt everything, bottons, window decorations, sliders,
etc. to something I want it to look like (which is basically the Mac
Aqua theme, btw.), except three things:
1. That darn green ugly SuSE beast of the K menu. How can I replace this
icon with something more attractive?
2. That ugly dragon I am presented with in the logout requester?
3. I need an Aqua theme for Mozilla. The only two Aqua themes I found
for Mozilla are either for Mozilla 1.0 or 0.9 or something that doesn't
work anymore with a more recent Mozilla or for the Mac version of
Mozilla. Both are no options with Mozilla 1.5 being the current stable
version on Linux/Intel machines of course.

ich habe versucht, mit Xmanager (www.xmanager.com) mir meinen
Linux-KDE-Desktop auf Windows darzustellen/zu verwenden (da der Linux Server
demnächst ohne Monitor in den Keller wandern soll....):
Xterm über einen SSH-Kanal anzeigen zu lassen, klappt.
Ein XDM Broadcast zeigt mir auch meinen Linux-Host zur Auswahl an,
Kurzzeitig sehe ich den hellblauen Hintergrund meines KDE Desktops (und dem
SuSE Logo drauf). Danach verschwindet der Hintergrund wieder und das einzige
Log, das ich auf dem Server bis jetzt sehe, ist:
Kdm: Greeter exited unexpectedly.
Kdm: Abnormal helper termination, code 1, signal 0.
Mein 'normaler' KDE Desktop läuft währenddessen auf dem Linux-Server- Ohne
Probleme.
Wie kann ich das Problem weiter einkreisen? Irgendwelche Tipps?

Has anyone tried KDE 3.1.95 from the SuSE Supplementary feed and got it
working correctly?

I added ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/
KDE/update_for_9.0/yast-source as an installation source in Yast and then did
a System Update. After resolving the conflicts as mentioned previously on
this list I rebooted. It didn't seem to have installed all the KDE 3.2 stuff.
So, again with yast, I uninstalled all the KDE and QT packages and
reinstalled them, still using the supplementary feed.
This seemed to install everything, except the KDE themes didn't seem to be
working and all letters on menu items with an underscore had a green
background.
Now I have disabled the supplementary feed as an installation source and gone
back to KDE 3.1.4 and everything seems ok. Has anyone else had much luck with
this?
I eventually corrupted my previous SuSE 8.1 installation by installing and
forcing upgrades of packages outside of Yast, so I did a clean install of
SuSE 9.0 and want to keep it clean and stick to official SuSE packages
installed with Yast as much as possible.

I am writing a book about KDE/Linux (in academia) and now need to make some
screenshots.
I am concidering using Plastik as the theme for the book, but I can't wait for
KDE 3.2 to come out (when is that going to happen, by the way?). Therefore I
am looking at this Plastik Theme (v. 0.3.9) at KDE Look:

- How close is this Plastik theme from the one that will ship with KDE 3.2?

I have recently installed suse 9 and am having some communication problems.
Using kinternet and kmail I have no problem with internet access, kmail does
the right things with outgoing mail, and saves it in 'sent mail'.
Occasionally incoming mail arrives via the 'inbox' in kmail as it should but
most incoming mail arrives in [ /var/spool/mail/(user)] accompanied by vast
amounts of communications code making it difficult to extract actual
messages. When requesting incoming mail via kmail the status bar says 'No new
messages' but I still find messages in the /var/spool/mail file. I have
jiggled with YAST and Kmail configuration but to no avail. What can I do to
discipline the software, or myself if that is where the error lies?
Hoping that someone can restore my sanity please.

when i start kde, i can see that suse create some icon for partition
and cdrom, and this icons disapear (but mine stay there)...
somebody know how to remove this icons creation by suse?

To offload an older Sun/Solaris CAD application server from running also
CDE sessions for remote X desktops (diskless clients), I wish to
possibly introduce a SuSE Linux workstation as a KDE session host/server.
That is, instead of getting remote CDE (dt)login from the Sun server,
the SuSe/KDE desktop should handle and supply KDM user login, window
manager and desktop apps, in addition to displays for the remote X
Cad-application running on the Sun server (execution host) as before.
Where the production data files (drawings from the Cad apps) now most
effectively should be saved, on the Sun application/file server as
before or nfs mounted on the SuSE workstation as new file server, is
also a question of load and speed to be tested.
Besides the Remote X apps mini HowTo, I wish to hear how to configure
the above solution to be transparent and easy for the user, and possibly
experiences, suggestions and additional helpful docs for this setup?

How do I disable k3b from starting every time I pop a writable CD into
my CD writer? I have a script that I've been using for some time that
uses cdrecord to write CDs. The autostarting of k3b interferes with the
operation of the script and has resulted in failed CD writing attempts.
I've looked thru the KDE Control Center and resmgr docs, but can't seem
to find where this insidious event is being initiated. BTW, I strongly
dislike automatic stuff like this and would like to disable it all if I
knew how. I've had no such problems under previous versions of SuSE
Linux.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,
... on the PC at work running the other-operating-system(tm) the mouse
driver has a function that if I press a control key it will draw
flashing circles around the pointer which helps locating the pointer. In
times of ever more increasing screen resolutions and decreasing pointer
sizes that turns out to be a pretty useful function.
Is there any such program for the KDE? I know that Gnome offers such
functionality but is there any such thing for KDE too?
