K-Mail early disconnect from POP

I'm not sure if this is: a) operator error b) working as designed c) a bug d) other. On the company POP3 server, we have "inbox" and several other folders. After I start K-Mail, a click on the server name (or on the server's "inbox" folder) causes K-Mail to request authentication, and then to commence download of my mail. However, if I select another folder before the download has finished, the process stops and I get an error message saying that it died unexpectedly before completion. In other words, while downloading 300 messages from the POP server, I can't go read my already-sorted mail without unintentionally (often) killing the server connection. Is that the way it's supposed to work, and what other people experience? My impression is that this is not 100%, but it has happened several times. I'm reluctant to repeat for verification, because a premature disconnect means the messages do not get deleted at the server. I already have many hundreds of duplicates. /kevin

Fonts lost, KDE desktop appear with icons but without text Thanks for a tip

Hi everybody I am using Suse 7.3., KDE 2.2.1 Everything was ok until to-day. I wanted to change something in the fonts of the administrator desktop (use antialiaising and bigger fonts) when i saved in Menu Controlcenter/appearance/Fonts. By leaving the fonts menu KDE displayed a warning i didn't pay attention to, then the fonts suddenly changed to what i think is type 1 like star office 5.3 (lucida etc). SInce then by booting up i have all icons...but no text!!! When i go to my account everything is ok. I suspect i overwrote some symling pointing to the standard font. How can i get back to normal. krabber still does not recognize my cdrom and cdrw

Hello again, maybe now there is somebody out there who can help here. The program "krabber" does not recognize my cdrom any longer. It worked before I enabled the scsi emulation for my CD-ROM (Toshiba IDE). krabber also does not see the CD-RW which is a true scsi device (Plextor). Does anybody know how to solve that problem? It would be nice if both devices would be recognized in krabber. KonqSU Won't Start in User

. I took someone's advice and reinstalled Suse8. This time I used Reiser, wich I've had good luck with, rather than ext3, which I've had bad luck with. Now things are much better, but when I'm logged in as a user, I can't start kfmsu. I hit the menu item, it asks me for a password, and never gives kfm. . When I encrypt a message using KMail and GPG, to an Outlook user, they invariably get a message, "encrypted session key is bad". Checking Google there is some confusion, but the most credible answer (from Disastry) is this is: "probably because of MDC. GPG uses MDC with AES,Twofish. however 6.5.8ckt06 should be able to decrypt Blowfish encrypted msgs. "you can disable MDC with --openpgp switch. then 6.5.8ckt06 should be able to decrypt all ciphers. "> P.S. Disastry... what's MDC and why does GnuPG use it? "Modification Detection Code, generaly SHA1 hash of message appended to message before encryption." OK, so the problem is messages are being encrypted with the wrong algos. Algo order is hard-coded in GPG, and I'm not going to change/recompile. I want to stay as standard as possible. So the answer is to set the switch --openpgp . After a full day of research I have ascertained that KMail uses code fragments from the old KPGP... actually .css , to hook GPG. I need somewhere to tell GPG to use the --openpgp switch. Normally this would be in the ~/.gnupg/options file , but I added the line openpgp and it has no effect. So GPG must be getting called with a different config, maybe via an environment variable. Another option is to have the KMail|GPG interface use --openpgp as an option to the invoking command, but I cannot find this interface anywhere. I believe Geheimnis is the successor to KPGP, so I installed it from the Suse8 disks. Started it up, and it wanted to be configured. JOY, there is a place to modify the commandline, although I do not know whether this is the same commandline invoked by KMail. So I set up Geheimnis, leave it running and send an email encrypted. Whoops, still bad sessionkey. AND when I stop and restart Geheimnis it forgot I had already set it up! It is not writing its ~/.geheimnis file. It was running as my user, but it couldn't/wouldn't write to my user dir. Could this be related to KMail not reading its config file, as I noted in my post titled, "KMail ignoring config file"? Seriously considering going back to Netscape mail. Programs stop working on KDE 3.01

Hi everyone, Just last night i updated KDE to 3.01 through yast. But i lost some of my programs. Such as i am not able to call opera anymore, also kppp, system telling me that command not known. KMail Problem

I have SuSE 8.0 successfully installed on my office PC ... a windows-free machine to make a point. Konqueror and Everybuddy function fine, or at least they do after running YaST2 update. KMail is still not functioning properly. The office network is DHCP through a 56k modem ... soon to be upgraded to a T1 line ... hooray! The manual has been no help. Any suggestions as to where I might start looking, please? Thanks! doc
