KDE Applications 24.02.2: KGet Issue

Hi there, Given TW20240419 with KDE Plasma 6.0.4 and kget-24.02.2-1.1.x86_64, it always stops downloading, e.g. using the metalink at https://get.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/#download, at 24 %. Worked fine before with Plasma 5. I couldn't find any related bug at Bugzilla nor at KDE's buglist. Any idea? Thx. Regards, Frank

KDE Pim Apps fail on Wayland/Tumbleweed/Plasma6

Hi all, Ever since the Tumbleweed snapshot containing the liblzma fix/rollback, Kmail is refusing to run under Wayland/Plasma 6 (running Nvidia GTX1080 with driver version 550.67 from the Nvidia website). If I log into a Plasma X11 session immediately after boot, or if I start a Plasma Wayland session and then logout before starting Kmail and start a Plasma X11 session, Kmail works fine. If I attempt to run Kmail under Plasma Wayland, the window appears and sometimes has the folder list populated, but it hangs indefinitely and shows "Starting" in the status line. Clicking on it results in the unresponsive app dialog and the only option is to kill it. If I then log out and log into a Plasma X11 session without rebooting, Kmail starts but after 2 minutes a dialog appears that says, "The application has experienced a critical error and will now close" (or words to that effect). If I reboot and log straight into a Plasma X11 session it works fine again, until I next try to run it under Wayland. Hi Since Plasma 6 upgrade, i've been getting Discover notifications. I've managed to stop them appearing using systemsettings (set to "never") but that implies it still runs but no longer shows the notifications. plasma-pass

I've updated plasma-pass[0] to the latest version and then with patches and an updated spec file to work and build w/Plasma 6. I'm happy to report that it now works for me again (at least on TW/Plasma 6/X11). I plan to submit the patches upstream. In the meantime, should I submit changes to KDE:Extra or wait for upstream? Also, at least one other package in KDE:Extra I noticed there is "foo-kf5" that presumably was the old stuff which still works for Plasma 5 and then "foo" which is now building with KF6/Qt6. kssl and self-signed certificates

Hello, Using KDE 6 on Tumbleweed, there is no obvious way to configure trusted TLS certificates (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=482585) which results in annoying pop-ups when a self-signed certificate is used. kssl is using /etc/xdg/ksslcalist and /usr/share/kf5/kssl/ca-bundle.crt to store certificates, so should I edit them directly? Bugzilla - openSUSE_Krypton not listed

Hi I have installed openSUSE_Krypton on my PC, and have some observations. But if I will enter it at Bugzilla, openSUSE_Krypton is not listed at the Product selector. Should I enter it at Tumbleweed or somewhere else? Observations I would report: * Installation: * No Repos are not activated - need to be activated manually * Partitioning - if there will be more than 1 drive selected, the partitioning won't consider it properly (I think more an generic - or Tumbleweed issue) * Startup * openSUSE-Welcome is not including a link to the Plasma-Welcome screen (especially due to the fact, that there are some configurations included) * Others * Preinstalled Packages - I would do there a proposal Cheers Ulf

KDE/Plasma6 Repo for Testing (bug search support)

Hi openSUSE-KDE Team, is there a possibility to add a repo for Plasma 6 RC2? I would test it on my not productive used Notebook. By the way, if I download https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Medias/images/iso/ openSUSE_Krypton.x86_64.iso The installation brakes after before finished in a kvm/quemu session. (Version from 2024-02-01 at least) Thanks Ulf

Problems with current Qt6 packages (please update)

Hi, and sorry to post it here but Admins don't respond to my try to get boo with IDP working again. Please update Qt6 packages to hopefully make KDE:Unstable:* packages working. Strange future timestamp issue on some emails in KMail

Hi all. I'm at a bit of a loss with this one, and I'm not entirely sure that it's specifically an openSUSE issue, but I'm hoping someone here will at least be able to point me in the right direction. Setup: Ntop-NG running on a Raspberry Pi (Debian Bookworm), generating alert emails sent to a local mail server (running on a Debian Bookworm VM) using Dovecot for serving emails via IMAP (emails stored in ~/Maildir). Procmail running on the mail server sorting emails into specific sub-folders under the users' Maildir folders. KMail on Tumbleweed retrieving IMAP emails from that local Dovecot mail server. Timezone is Australian Central Summer Time (UTC+10:30), timezone is correct on desktop machine, (Tumbleweed), NTOP-NG and mail server. The timestamp in the KMail message list is exactly 10:30 ahead of the actual time the message was received from NTOP-NG (as seen by viewing the message source in Kmail, meaning that recent messages are being shown as received in the future. It's almost like the timezone offset is being applied incorrectly by KMail, but I cannot figure out why. The times for the same emails in the message list in Thunderbird are shown correctly, so it does look like a KMail issue, but why it only seems to apply to these specific messages in this specific folder has got me beat. Hello, The first frameworks 6 / plasma 6 releases will be out in a couple months. The initial release schedule was posted a couple days ago: https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kde-devel/2023-September/002008.html Let's take a tour of the incoming changes to the KDE unstable repositories [1] 1- KDE:Unstable:Frameworks Currently, this repository provides: - KDE Frameworks 5 snapshots based on the 'kf5' branch - Plasma 5 snapshots based on the '5.27' branch Soon, the repository will provide: - KDE Frameworks 5 snapshots (kf5 branch) - KDE Frameworks 6 snapshots (master branch) - Plasma 5 snapshots (5.27 branch) - Plasma 6 snapshots (master branch) 2- KDE:Unstable:Applications This repository provides snapshots of applications released with the 'release gear' bundle. Applications that are already ported upstream will be updated automatically. 3- KDE:Unstable:Extra The repository provides snapshots for some of the applications present in KDE:Extra. Important: KDE Frameworks 5 and 6 are co-installable, but Plasma 5 and 6 can't coexist on the same system. yast and zypper will require your attention the first time you install plasma 6 packages. Mini Q/A: 1 - What should be reported to openSUSE / Upstream? Most issues you will encounter have to be reported to https://bugs.kde.org if no report exists yet. Issues we're interested in: - Unresolvable installation issues. (e.g: 'nothing provides 'qt6qmlimport(QtQuick.Dialogs.1) >= 3' needed by the to be installed kdeplasma6-addons [...]' ). Some of these installation problems can be fixed in our packages, some are caused by upstream issues (like the message above). - Conflicting files - Non-KDE packages that would be uninstalled due to missing dependency. Either fill a bug report on https://bugzilla.opensuse.org for these cases or drop a message on the #opensuse-kde IRC channel [2] Even if you don't get an immediate answer, that doesn't mean your message won't be read. 2 - Will plasma 6 be available for Leap? The unstable repositories currently build for Leap 15.4 and 15.5. We try to keep most packages building for these versions but it's not always possible. Note that Leap 15.4 will reach EOL in 2 months. [3] Adding the Qt 6 repository will be required for Leap users. Even if you decide to stick with Plasma 5 for the moment, packages from KDE:Unstable:Applications will use Frameworks 6 / Qt 6. [4] The wiki page will be updated.
