[opensuse-kde] gtk3 apps ignoring Plasma UI fonts

FF 47.0.1 is my most used example, occurring on multiple installations on multiple machines with multiple profiles. I install FF ESR rpm, and use mozilla.org binaries for other releases. In 5.24.0/QT5.6.1 (aka TW; as well as 13.2/KDE4), FF 47 is ignoring UI fonts, as if its UI DPI was set to a lower value (e.g. 96) rather than actual DPI (e.g. 120). However, fonts and DPI in web pages are working exactly the same as in ESR. This was not a problem with mozilla.org's 46.0.x. Neither is it a problem with 47.0.1 running KDE3, so I'm in brainlock what to try. Even though kde-gtk-config5 is installed, there is no place I can find in Plasma5 systemsettings to choose GTK fonts, and I'm at a loss to figure out what other package might be missing to provide such control. Is there any such package any more for controlling fonts in either GTK2 or GTK3 apps in the latest Plasma? [opensuse-kde] Should we start building KDE:Applications against KDE:Frameworks5 for Leap 42.1?

Hi! I decided to ask this question here as well, as it mainly affects users. So, should we start building KDE:Applications against KDE:Frameworks5 for Leap 42.1? The reason I ask is that currently with KDE Applications 16.08, over 70 packages fail to build for Leap 42.1. This is mainly KDEPIM, as it requires Qt 5.6 and Frameworks 5.23 now, Leap 42.1 only has Qt 5.5.1 and Frameworks 5.21. So we cannot provide the current KDEPIM for Leap 42.1 any more. Also other packages were changed to use a macro for the appstream data location that is not defined in Leap 42.1 (this would be fixable by defining it in the project config though without affecting users). And currently KDE:Applications is not completely compatible to KDE:Frameworks5/KDE:Qt5 because akonadi is built against Qt 5.5.1 and isn't installable with Qt 5.7 because it (or its sqlite plugin) uses internal/private Qt headers. The disadvantage would be that everybody who wants to use KDE:Applications on Leap 42.1 would also need to add KDE:Frameworks5 and KDE:Qt5 to get the latest packages there. And this would also introduce a possible incompatibility with KDE:Extra, which currently also only builds against standard Leap 42.1 (+Updates). This only affects skrooge though AFAIK. (would be solvable by building KDE:Extra against KDE:Frameworks5 as well, or adding an additional KDE:Extra:openSUSE_KDE_Frameworks5 repo, similar as it has been done for KDE:Current:openSUSE_13.1 in the past) Opinions are welcome, especially (but not only) from Leap 42.1 users. Got a better crash result now through console. http://www.susepaste.org/20191214 You can find the output. What you can see: the about kontact, about kmail menu items display with delay, afterwards you cannot see you mail anymore. Or the mail displays but the whole screen begins to be a discotec and then the application crashes. If you think this is of interest, please advise me how to get to a sound backtrace, so that I can post a bug report. I am trying to get a clue with beta2 about sudden segafault crashes of kmail. The are quite easily to reproduce but I haven't succeeded to create a decent backtrace. Try to to a preview of a mail and while it still does not open, just try to open the mail. Segfault. Try another one: open Kontact in kmail, use the imap, then, when the previews are there, double click on about kontact. And segfault. This is quite repeatable but although I have the debug packages installed, konqui does hang while trying to build a post mortem backtrace. How could I start kontact from Konsole to get the backtrace from there. [opensuse-kde] folder view setting not persistent

Hi All, I configured my system to use Folder View (instead of default Desktop), put some icons and place them as desired. After restart (or logout/login) it is back to Desktop. Switching again to Folder View, icons placement is lost (they are arranged in rows). I ask because he one with 41.1 was not usable (tried it out) and AFAIK the current has a problem with qt-webkit and with missing features too. So, do we stay with 4.x version? Or what is the foreseen version of Kontact for 422? If the beta 2 of 42.2 has already the final version of Kontact I would like to test it to be able to confirm eventually the existence of bugs of version 4 that made it into version 5. Hello, Is it possible to fix again the window Manager when it have 2 Monitors ? I have KDE for leap 42.1 from the KDE Repository KDE:/Frameworks5/openSUSE_Leap_42.1/ This was broken I mean before 2 Month, then it is working for some weeks and now it is broken again. Since 16.08 enter TW I'm getting more an more trouble with kmail. (Mostly linked I guess to the new qwebview engine) Today after upgrading the whole TW to its last state I've seen kmail unable to display correctly messages in its window see http://susepaste.org/31174158 My screen is setup to use 168dpi on the external monitor, In systemsettings the fonts are forced to 168dpi and the display scale factor is setup to 1.4 As the display is completely borked, I'm not able to clic on link etc. It seems that 16.08.1 is coming, has anybody news about changes related to that ? Is there anybody who has kiosktool working? I played around a bit with kiosk in the beta of 42.2. It does not work, that is: it does not save profiles. This is abandoned software (work is done on a successor, confine, but I don't believe this is ready yet). Should we not remove kiosktool from the distribution? I have a question on Kaffeine 1.2.2-28.3 which is the available version in the repos. I found having 1.2.2-48.x (don't remember reliably the subnumber) as orphaned installed. That because I had to lock it, because when having Extra Repo, I had suddenly a non funktional update from version 2.x installed (no dvb-t and dvb-s). I am puzzled about the versions. Have there been withdrawel of packages and what was the rational of these. It appears kaffeine is now not in Extra any more. Do I have to expect issues because 1.2.2.-48 was installed before? Would't it be korrekt to warn when packages are version-changed to avoid confusion? Last: will the 2 version (I looked on the site) will be able to reproduce dvt-t/s etc again or do we have to expect this to be "feature amputated"? [opensuse-kde] Can't set default webbrowser in plasma5 to anything other than opera or konqueror

Hi guys. I just upgraded from KDE$ to plasma5 an I'm havinf a weird little issue: I can't set the default webbrowser to anything other than konqueror or opera. What I mean is, I go to the systemsettings app, the page with the default applications, and i pick webbrowser. When I leave it on the first option that autodetects the content type and opens the proper app, I get konqueror whenever I click on a link in kmail or choqok. When I choose the second option and use opera from the "app tree", it works, but when I use chromium or firefox and click a link in a KDE or plasma app, nothing happens at all, also no error message in ~/.xsession-errors at all. Any hints for me? Hi, With Plasma 5.8 coming closer how about submitting towards Factory already? It would stay in staging for a while but we'd get the new stuff exposed to reviews like factory-auto and legal already. Hi All, Krusader and kdesvn were ported to KF5 but not available in Tumbleweed. I found packages here: https://build.opensuse.org/repositories/home:wolfi323:branches:KDE:Framewor… (Mr Wolfgang Bauer repo). If the packages are stable, please port them in Tumbleweed. Also if other apps are ported to KF5 and considered stable, please include them in Tumbleweed.
