Fixed background image for screensaver?

Hi, a customer of mine uses NLD9 (~ SL91) and would like to use a company logo as the only screensaver image. The standard KDE screensaver doesn't provide for still images out of the box except a single-color one. How do I make the screensaver use a still image without having to write another screensaver app for xscreensaver? TIA! And I didn't upgrade all of that stuff either, just gtk2, glib, gnucash, gnomemeeting, mc, gftp---nothing which should have affected SASL. Obviously something did, so I guess I will rebuild my box....

Kmail SASL problems

For months Kmail has worked with SASL. Beginning yesterday, however, after updating some packages, SASL is failing. Kmail gives me the following error. Sending failed: Authorization failed, An error occurred during authentication: SASL(-4): no mechanism available: No worthy mechs found authentication not supported At first I thought I had a problem with my provider, but Firefox, Thunderbird and other packages which use SASL appear to be working. I renamed my Kmail config files and re-started Kmail with no config. I added a POP and SMTP account and tried to send mail, that failed as well. I have re-installed all the cyrus-sasl packages, but that didn't fix the problem. Kopete doesn't work in SuSE 9.2 since a long time (with MSN account)

Hi, since many week kopete desn't work on my SuSE 9.2 professional with my MSN account. I know that a new release of this is done because with the new SuSE 9.3 kopete work fine, but I won't upgrade to 9.3 my system. kmail-not able to send after upgrade to kde 3.4.1

hi- after upgrading to kde 3.4.1 from the version of kde that shipped with suse 9.2, i can no longer send emails. the error msg is: "Authorization failed, an error occured during authentication: SASL(-4): no mechanism available: No worthy mechs found authentication not supported." can anyone tell me what this error msg is trying to point me to? i've got another machine that that has no problem with the kde 3.4.1 upgrade. anyone have any ideas? thanx robert -- "The more I study religions the more I am convinced that man never worshipped anything but himself." This is what I would do: - read /var/log/dmesg and /var/log/messages to see if there are any error messages - check in the BIOS that parallell is not deactivated - check the address of the port is correct (could it be lpt2?) - check that the cable is OK - check that the printer works on any other computer You don't say what the first distro is. Assuming you're using CUPS, how do you set it up? Tried you browser with localhost:631? Thierry -- The problem with the world is stupidity. When adding a new printer (paralell port), although the correct printer name is shown under "paralell port", nothing gets printed (no test pages, nothing...). Same problem under "SimpliMepis" instead of SUSE 9.3. Does anybody have an idea?

Screen Saver Advanced Options Problems

Hi, I'm having a couple of problems with the settings in the "Advanced Options" dialog of the KDE Control Center's Screen Saver module: 1) The "Lock Screen" and "Prevent Locking" corner options have no effect. 2) The priority pop-up reverts to "Low" whenever changed to either "Medium" or "High" and the dialog is confirmed and reopened. Applying the Screen Saver module changes in between confirming the priority change and viewing the Advanced Options dialog again does not cause the priority change to persist. Has anybody seen these symptoms? Does anyone have a fix or work-around? Searching the KDE Bug Database (<http://bugs.kde.org/>) did not seem to show anything pertinent. Randall Schulz
