Please keep the thread on the list. The list is there so that one answer helps all users, not only one. Well, the behavior is somewhat correct and wrong concurrently. If you are in icon view and you click neither on the Icon nor on the icon text, then you cannot drag, too. The same thing is in tree and list view. It's all the same. The empty highlighted area in my opinion helps to keep the eyes on the correct row of the selected file when you want to look at the attributes. But I have to admit that the highlighted empty area could misguide the user, that this area is part of the icon, too. But to be true, you are the first user I saw who was misguided by this one. All user I trained on linux intuitively just used either the icon or the icon text when working with drag'n'drop. Daniel Am Mittwoch, 6. multi-select in konqueror (kde 3.3.0) not working

Hi, Have been upgrading KDE via apt to the leatest offered version but the problem is persistent in all 3.3.0 versions on bth my 9.0 and 9.1 system. When i select more than one file (multi-select) and try to drag them to another folder the system deselects al files and just picks the one that was active. This happens in the 'detailed list view' and the 'tree view' (thjat i like the most) but not in the 'text view' (but this becomes unresponsive sometimes) and the 'icon view'. This is something i do very often but i see no mention of it in any list until sofar. What i can find is a similar closed bug (http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59407)- but this was KDE 3.1.0. Are there other victims? Is it just me? Solutions? Thanks, Peter Vollebregt

kde3.3 latest rpms: devices not recognised as mounted

Hi all I have just updated my KDE3.3 installation on SuSe8.2 to the latest RPMs from SuSe download. Now my CD/DVD/CDWriter/DVDWriter icons no longer show when the devices are mounted and so I can't unmount them without a command line. Additionally when I right-click and eject that works (and will unmount) so it must be related to the KDED Mount Watcher which I have checked (in control centre service manager) is running. Has anyone got any ideas as it only started since the last update. Hi, I'm trying to ftp via KDE, but when trying to view the contents of a remote directory KDE gives the following error: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There appears to be a configuration error. You have associated Konqueror with inode/directory, but it can't handle this file type. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is there a way to correct this?

I like it to, the only reason I started down this path was the same stripe appears in the login manager. With KDE 3.3 from supplementary, the shutdown icon in the menu is missing which slides all of the text to the left, over the gray stripe. Purely cosmetic of course, but annoying. You can get rid of it there too by adding the below to /etc/X11/qtrc (if your using Thin Keramik for the login manager style) [ThinKmk] MenuStripe=#ffffff Your right though, I don't see the same settings as applying to Plastik. > Actually I *like* the gray stripe and was using Plastik. Someone plz smack me ;) In KDE Control Center/Style, Plastik is used in SuSE 9.1 Personal while Thin Keramik is used in Pro. Plastik uses a stripe which is the same color as the menu itself while Thin Keramik uses a grey one. kde 3.3 questions

Hi i am trying to do the following on the kde 3.3 I want to shrink the icons in the suse menu which is located in the south west.... The lizard menu :P I also want to make the win button to make the lizard menu appear... I have tried is but it is necessary to have two or more buttons for one shortcut And finally i can't change the language from one to another using the shortcut that i had specified in the appropriate menu... In SuSE 9.1 Pro, all of the menus, including the main kicker menu has a grey thin strip going up the left hand side where the icons are. Its kidof a background for the icons. In SuSE 9.1 Personal, this background is the same color as the menus (white) so in effect, no background. I have searched high and low and googled for an answer on how to make the Pro menus look like the Personal ones (i.e. no grey background) to no avail. The interesting part is that the root user, under Personal, has menus with the grey strip background. Only thing I can see is that there are a couple specific files for root in /opt/kde3/share/config/SuSE/default (i.e. kickerrc.root) but I mirrored these settings in my ~/.kde/share/config with no difference.
