I sent the following to the SLE list, and then discovered the new KDE list, so apologies for the crossposting. I'm getting started with SuSE and have struck a small problem. I am running V.7.3 (Pro distribution) on a dual boot system with NT4. When logged in as root the Konsole window opens, confined to a narrow window on the left of the screen, and the prompt is very difficult to read with letters squashed together. Klauncher breaks

Suse 7.1 kernel 2.4.17 kde 2.2.2 XF86 4.2 Small problem. I keep breaking Klauncher forcing me to log out then back in to KDE. For example Kwintv (rpm from suse) asks to be suid root. Hello, everyone. First of all, sorry for the crosspost, but the KDE list is too new, and I don't know how many people we have frequenting it yet. I downloaded the KDE3 RPMs from the SuSE ftp server yesterday, and installed all of the base RPMs through YaST. Printing Manager - Control Centre - cups support

Hi, The cups interface to the printing manager falls over after the initial installation of KDE 3.0 and thereafter is not available on the Print System selection. From a couple of installs I have done, once you initally open the Print Manager you get an error message regarding cups, from then on you don't get any error message, nor access to cups. Hello, I have upgraded to KDE3 on my SuSE 7.2 laptop, resulting in many problems. First of all KDM is not able to start KDE anymore. Seemingly it can't find it's configuration, because all options have default settings. After login I only get a single xterm without any windowmanager. If I give the command 'startkde' in this window I get KDE up and running (but no sound). If I try to configure KDM through the konfiguration module none of my changes seem to "take", i.e. they are not saved. … [View More]

Hi Ich hab ein Problem, das wie ich sehe schon sehr oft zur Sprache gekommen ist, allerdings hab ich mein genaues Problem nicht gefunden. Ich habe SuSE 7.2 Pro am laufen, und wollte auf KDE3 updaten. Lief soweit alles auch OK. KDE3 funktioniert, wenn ich es aus dem X-Server aus mit /opt/kde3/bin/kde3 aufrufe. Mein Problem ist, daß kdm überhaupt nicht mehr funktioniert.
