[opensuse-kde] [tumbleweed] kde/plasma/wayland: Primary Selection Protocol (middle-mouse to paste)

Hi, after I tried KDE/Plasma/Wayland on Debian/testing AMD64 I inspired my colleague Joop Boonen to test it on OpenSuse/tumbleweed. Everything was fine besides Primary Selection (middle-mouse to paste), so I stopped using Plasma/Wayland. Joop is able to use primary selection in every application (KDE or GTK). So, I was surprised. Here on KDE/Plasma 5.12.5 I cannot do that (for example cut-n-paste in konsole via middle-mouse paste into firefox). I asked on the wayland-devel ML [1] with no answer. The retired KWin maintainer wanted to have this feature in wayland-protocols before implementing it in KWin/Plasma/Wayland. So, what magic did you do in OpenSuse? The Gnome-way? [1] has references on how Gnome did it in mutter. Or can you point me to the relevant packages with name (sources and patches)? Thanks in advance. [opensuse-kde] Heads-up: Leap 15.1 support ends in two months

Hello, Please note: openSUSE Leap 15.1 support will end in two months [1]. If you didn't upgrade yet, now is a good time to start thinking about it. As mentioned in the Leap 15.2 release notes, KDE4 is not supported anymore [2]. When we remove the Leap 15.1 KDE repositories, some KDE4 packages that are only built for openSUSE Leap 15.1 will be removed from KDE:Extra. (a lot of dead plasmoids, a couple icon themes and obsolete applications). Another reminder will be sent in one month. [opensuse-kde] Lost settings after Plasma update to 20.08.2

Hi, after update to snapshot 20201012 with Plasma 20.08.2 I was experiencing plenty of graphical flickering in nearly every application. This was solved by switch from OpenGL to XRender in KDE Control Center. I just wonder why did it happen. I had been using OpenGL for a while without any issue. Another issue I noticed was that I lost settings of the text editor part (Kwrite, Kate, ...), it was reverted do the (new) default state. I had to again set dark style and some more settings. Also I was surprised that I had to do the settings in every application using he KDE text component, namely Kwrite, Kate, Kile and RKWard. It used to work that I changed the editor (menu Setting | Editor settings) that I changed the settings on one place and it was applied in all applications using the editor component. [opensuse-kde] menu items missing in new 15.2 plasma session

To an up to date 15.2 installation, originally an upgrade from 15.1, with only TDE/TDM and IceWM installed for graphical environment, I ran: zypper in plasma5-session plasma5-workspace plasma5-theme-oxygen This pulled in just short of 100 new packages total, including systemsetting5, plasma5-framework, plasma5-desktop, konsole & spectacle. The session is functional, but "Application Menu" is very scant, missing all the TDE apps, and very conspicuously absent, "System Settings". I have to adjust everything except panel and desktop via systemsettings5 from Konsole or Xterm cmdline or Alt-F2. "System Settings" is present in "Application Launcher". Any ideas how to get TDE's apps and "System Settings" into "Application Menu"? -- Evolution as taught in public schools, like religion, is based on faith, not on science. Team OS/2 ** Reg. I don't have any multi-head PCs with KDE & openSUSE except with TW. IOW, all my Leaps are running TDE or KDE3, with TDM or KDM3, so I can't tell if Plasma in openSUSE ever started up respecting the xrandr script. In Fedora 32 I have Plasma on a 3 output PC, but it's using LightDM rather than SDDM. I have one 15.2 with Plasma on a single head PC. The script is respected for the purpose of specifying DPI. If there's a bug here, whose is it? KDE? openSUSE? SDDM? TW but not Leap? Xorg? FWIW, in Debians I have the script in /etc/X11/Xsession.d/, but don't have KDE on any of them anyway (TDE only, working as expected). Suggestions?
