[opensuse-kde] KDE 4.6 - desktop effects with live previews broken

Hi, I'm running openSUSE 11.3 with the 4.6 packages from Factory (KDF). Desktop effects work fine except the ones which include a live preview in some form. For example the Box Switch, the Desktop Grid or the Present Windows effect don't work correctly. Box Switch only shows the small icon of the application (e.g. the Firefox icon) but no box and especially no live preview of the windows. When using Present Windows all windows fade to the background but get grey rectangles immediately afterwards. Same thing happens when using the Desktop Grid effect. Even a fresh install of openSUSE didn't help. Is this a known bug or should I report it (to the KDE bug tracker or to the openSUSE one?)? Thanks for your help! Yep that's how I did it when I did zypper dup, did it to the specific repo for kde46, my bad should have mention that. [opensuse-kde] How do I mount USB drive world writable using device notifier?

Hello - I have an issue which is a bit annoying to work around, so would like to find a more reasonable solution. My wife and I have laptops running openSuSE 11.2 and 11.3, KDE 4.4.4 and KDE 4.5 We both use an external USB drives formatted with a FAT32 file system and often want to send pictures or other files back and forth to store on these external drives. Right now, we cannot do this directly, though we can navigate to the other's USB drive and see files on it. I use both Samba and autofs to mount file systems from each other's laptop. What we can do is to transfer files to some other directory, such as /tmp and then locally transfer the files from /tmp to the USB drive. A PITA sometimes.... It appears that the USB drive is being mounted with rw permissions for the owner only, and only r permissions for groups and others. I suspect that we need to set the permissions of the mount point to be rw for everyone? We use the KDE device notifier to handle the mounting of the USB drives, but I am unable to figure out how to change the default permissions. Internet searches reveal I am not the only one confronted with this problem, but so far I have not been able to find an openSuSE oriented solution... Any ideas? Happy to report, that I have kde 4.6.x running on my one of my 2 computers. I still have to use the Nvidia 256.53 driver, updating to the Nvidia 260.19.36 brings the dreaded floating point error, for now keep the Nvidia 256.53 driver, when I have time will try the nouveau driver, just to see if it works. But still need the nvidia, for 3d stuff. Per your suggestion I tried the switch in yast, and it worked. Basically I re-added the following repos http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/46/openSUSE_11.3/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Extra/KDE_Release_46_openSUS… and did the switch option, had to resolve some dependency issues related to aqbanking and kymoney. One other item i ran into is the power managment lost all the profiles on first start of kde 4.6, So logged out then deleted the file /home/user/.kde4/share/config/powerdevil.notifyrc, logged back in all power profiles back :) For whatever reasons zypper up / zypper dup did not work for 2 computers for me upgrading to kde 4.6 I'm a cli type of person, so prefer zypper but in this case for what ever reason I had issues.
