[opensuse-kde] Need Help in KDE:Extra/skrooge

Hello Mates, i have some trouble with my skrooge Package. Building and installing goes good. If i run it via console i'm getting: skrooge(21668)/kdecore (trader) KServiceTypeTrader::defaultOffers: KServiceTypeTrader: serviceType "SKG GUI/Plugin" not found skrooge(21668)/kdeui (kdelibs): Attempt to use QAction "view_context" with KXMLGUIFactory! Then the Program Starts with Splashscreen and the Main Program. But i just can see the frames, but no other things. The Menue is near empty. While it does not really answer my question (why different versions of KDE 4.x don't work the same) you made my day (and probably many more days :) Actually I didn't really know about AutoFS (and would probably have avoided it from the name as I do hate automounting of CD, DVD and Co). AutoFS is poorly explained in most places I visited, but in the end I found a clear example of how to use it for NFS and yes, it does exactly what I want. [opensuse-kde] Mount nfs share still not working (on openSUSE) in KDE 4.5

I have been waiting for KDE 4.5 as everyone said this would be the release that would really be OK, and I must say I am impressed with KDE 4.5 on openSUSE, it seems crisp and responsive. I do still have a showstopper however, and it seems to be an openSUSE problem. I have three machines on a network. Machines A and B run Mepis 8.0 (Debian based) with KDE 3.5.10; Both share files over nfs, and neither is a real "server", by which I mean they are not always on, so mounting shares at boot is not an option. Machine C is used for media editing and testing. It runs three distributions with KDE 4.x: Sabayon 5.1 with KDE 4.4.1, Mepis 8.5 with KDE 4.3.4 and openSUSE 11.3 with KDE 4.5.0 from factory. All three installs run the KDE Desktop in ForderView mode. All three have these lines in /etc/fstab: 192.168.1.x:/backup /server nfs noauto,users,exec,noatime,nolock 0 0 192.168.1.x:/video /servideo nfs noauto,users,exec,noatime,nolock 0 0 192.168.1.y:/data /centraldata nfs noauto,users,exec,noatime,nolock 0 0 and the "servers" are listed in /etc/hosts On all three installs, issuing this command as user works: mount /centraldata So nfs works, and mounting a share as a user works, obviously. The problems arrise when I create a ForderView "link to a device" that should mount the nfs share. On Sabayon /KDE 4.4.1 I can mount the shares (but umount doesn't work) On Mepis 8.5 / KDE 4.3.4 mount and umount work perfectly On openSUSE 11.3 / KDE 4.5.0 I still get the same old error: "mount: only root can do that". Of course it does work if I login as root, but... So: it's not an nfs setting or permission problem, as mounting from teh command line as user does work. it's not a KDE 4 problem in itself, as it does work in 4.3.4 on Mepis So it must be an openSUSE problem. Is there any magic to do? Does SUSE's KDE call executables that should have their permissions changed, or should my user be added to some group? [opensuse-kde] Kmail sending new mail to wastebin/trash

Kmail has stopped honouring my filter settings, and is sending new mail to the wastebin. This includes mail for which there is no filter defined, that should end up in the default inbox. Some mail tagged as spam by Spamassassin *does* end up in a "Quarantine" folder. This behaviour started when I upgraded to KDE 4.5, but for a number of reasons this upgrade was unsatisfactory, so I am back on 4.4.4 release 8, now. Kmail is version 1.13.5 Is this known behaviour, and can I fix it? This is to hammer out the details of the stable KDE 4.5 repo a) Naming I don't think this should go under top level KDE: since we will have other versions. Perhaps KDE:SC:45 or KDE:Release:45? a.a) Open-PC repo Since at some point we will no longer need KDE:SC:45, but I assume Open-PC will need to still have it for the livecycle of the product, I suggest that Open-PC creates a second repo under their namespace that is a symlink (Adrian can do this) to KDE:SC:45. When we EOL KDE:SC:45, we can replace the symlink with its contents and Open-PC users see no interruption. b) How to implement it Fixed link revs with osc setlinkrev seem to be the obvious solution but there is a bug with this - when the linked-to repo submits to its upstream (openSUSE:Factory) and is synced back to o:F, the existing links break. I need to check this out with Adrian; Lubos has shown me how to reproduce this. In the meantime linking everything to KDF and disabling build/publish once there is a known good build should be sufficient c) Update frequency/policy This is a question for the maintainers. Options: *) On KDE bugfix release (4.5.1 etc) This seems safe but remember that the Akonadi PIM port is still planned to be released with 4.5, even if this is being pushed back. I am not sure that a major change to the PIM stack as an update is what Open-PC users want *) Arbitrary updates as decided by maintainers. This would allow 'good builds' to go out as updates without surprises like Akonadi PIM. KDE SC 4.5.0 was just released and as usual we have the freshest packages for you. The packages are in KDE:Distro:Factory and related OBS projects. We expect to produce an openSUSE 11.3 respin with 4.5.x shortly. If you want to install 11.3 with 4.5.0 preinstalled right now, use the Live Image from http://home.kde.org/~kdelive. If you want to upgrade your existing openSUSE installation to KDE SC 4.5.0, follow these steps for the best experience. They assume you are using 11.3, substitute 11.2 in all URLs below if necessary. 1) Remove any old KDE:KDE4:* repositories and KDE:Qt* repositories 2) Add the repository containing 4.5.0: KDE:Distro:Factory : zypper ar -f \ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Distro:/Factory/openSUSE_11.3 \ KDF 3) Add the Extra repository (optional): zypper ar -f \ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Extra/openSUSE_11.3_KDE_Dist… KDEExtra 4) Upgrade all packages from KDE:Distro:Factory and KDE:Extra (omit if not using): zypper dup --from KDF --from KDEExtra 5) If you are using knetworkmanager, replace it with the Network Management plasmoid due to a bug in KNM with 4.5.0 that hides all connections, before you upgrade or you may be stuck without a connection! zypper in plasmoid-networkmanagement and allow it to deinstall NetworkManager-kde4. 6) logout and login again. Great work by Alin and Javier - I just tried Build3-1 and it looks fine. What are the remaining bits of polish it needs? Let's build a list so when it we make a splash about it it's a-mazing. Please all join in and suggest things needing fixing. * desktop:/ still crashes in FolderView when run in a VM. This is hard to debug * Strigi is activated by default, and we disabled it in 11.3 to placate the angry brigade. Leave it off and keep Nepomuk enabled? * Set WebKitPart as the default HTML renderer? * Package selection - it's currently more KDE 4 Live than openSUSE 11.3. Should we replace KOffice with OpenOffice.org again? Digikam? Amarok 2.3.2? Any more issues we noticed in the Live Image or read about in others' blogs we can fix?
