Hi guys, kbluetooth4 is completely broken.. Unuseable on 11.1, still unuseable on 11.2 m3 with kde from factory repo. [opensuse-kde] kde 4.3, libqt4.5 - and YaST on openSUSE 11.1

I cannot start YaST anymore since I updated to KDE 4.3 with the new libqt 4.5. [opensuse-kde] This time I give up on KDE 4 Desktop

********* Rant - but it's the last one ******************* I've tried, really, to use this "thing", but no, definitely, it's not possible. I'm sure the foundation of KDE 4 is a step forward (don't ask me why, I'm just ready to believe, but I have not seen where there is an improvement I am using, I'm probably just dumb), but what's killing all that work is the desktop. The panel is awkward to say the least, organising icons to launch programs is possible, but so cumbersome compared to KDE 3. the whole thing is sloooow (probably eating CPU power for useless eye candy). Apparently, the devs have *decided* that the *only* way to use a desktop is by having some sort of automount. Every time you insert a CD/DVD you get a menu poping from the panel (greetings from Windows Vista!), to mount it (yes, I added a line in fstab to mount it where I want) I have either to use this popup or Dolphin. I have been told Dolphin is better than Konqueror - I fail to see where. Anyway, to mount (or unmount) a DVD you have to use "Places" - as I hide this, it means more clicks to get it done. Now, you can have a "link to device" icon on your folder view, but it does not work (you can mount from the console, not from KDE). A bug has been filed six month ago...... If you create links to other partitions, they work... but they have names with the .desktop extention all over your desktop. Now, I could use a folder view for these, but a) I dont want them on my desktop all the time and b) it defeats the basic idea (mount these partitions only when I need them). I've reinstalled 11.1 this morning with KDE 3 - what a breeze, simple, efficient, and that's not only because I'm more used to it! GIVE US BACK A USABLE DESKTOP (and yes! I'm shouting in the hope someone can hear!). Do what you want under the hood if there is a good reason to rewrite everything from scrap, but really I get mad when I see that we are going to loose a good, matured desktop that did all we needed and will have to "adapt", "get used to" some inferior piece of desktop software. perhaps I could try to get used to Gnome Desktop - but their devs seem to be on the way to ruin that to. After Step maybe? I hope 11.1 can stay up to date enough because I'm not getting 11.2, unless KDE 4 Desktop changes, but it seems to be going the Windows way: changing, but for the worse, because the people who write it have decided that the users had to follow "their" way. OK, I had to let this out, perhaps I'm the only one to feel this way. [opensuse-kde] Konqueror configuration problem

Hi, Using openSUSE 11.1 and KDE 4.2.4 "release 2" I have a local webpage, which contains some clickable maps which link to shell scripts which send an audio file to mplayer. In Firefox, this has always worked as intended, i.e. I left click on the image and the music file starts playing. However, Konqueror (and this was true in KDE 3.5.10, as well) always asks for confirmation with an Execute? dialog containing a message such as Do you really want to execute 'file:////home/bob/AlbumBrowser/Scripts- BHF/TheBeatles-MagicalMysteryTour-Play.sh'? and I have to click on [Execute] or [Cancel]. Is there somewhere I can make Konqueror behave like Firefox? I've looked in Settings Configure Konqueror File Management File Associations but no amount of fiddling with the x-shellscript settings makes any difference. I'm not at the Debian system, but it should be using Xorg from Lenny and Qt from Squeeze. The keyboard is old, but it is not the same keyboard I use on my laptop. On the laptop I'm using xorg-x11-server-7.4-17.4.1 and libqt4-4.4.3-13.2. The keyboard is built into the laptop, and a bit newer than the one on my desktop. Assuming my memory of the Debian system is correct: That's Xorg 7.3 on Debian and Xorg 7.4 on openSUSE; no match. That's Qt 4.4 on openSUSE and Qt 4.5 on Debian; no match. I'm thinking it must be some hidden configuration issue. I'll try creating a new user and seeing if the behavior persists. Surely someone else would have seen it? I experience it on two rather distinct distributions on two rather different sets of hardware and can reproduce it perfectly on both. Neither the X nor Qt versions are the same, but the KDE version is.
