[opensuse-kde] AmaroK takes a weeK to build list

I have about 350GB of music files, mostly flac and some mp3. On 10.3, amaroK took a couple of hours to index them (build the collection list), but on 11 with KDE 3.5.9 it's been running for three days and has got to 55%. Using the sqlite database. Should this job really take that long? [opensuse-kde] Problem with preferred application in OpenSuSE 11

Hi. I have a problem with opensuse 11. It is when I want to select an application like preferred, opensuse select the same application for Gnome and KDE. And I want to have different preferred applications in Gnome and KDE. I observed this problem with pdf files, if I select okular in KDE like preferred, GNOME uses okular like preferred. If I select acroread like preferred in GNOME, KDE uses acroread like preferred. I'm using opensuse 11 x86_64. Can someone help me, please? [opensuse-kde] 11.0 kdepim4 online update strategy

I just blogged (http://www.kdedevelopers.org/node/3532) about this, but for the record here's what I'll be doing with PIM updates (Kontact, KMail, KOrganizer, etc) for openSUSE 11.0 between now and KDE 4.1's release: " openSUSE 11.0 is out and with it are a set of KDE PIM (Personal Information Management) packages from KDE 4.1. This is part of the KDE 4 desktop choice and they have been extensively patched to work with the KDE 4.0.4 libraries on 11.0, and contain backports from KDE 4.1 trunk. They have been tested thanks to our devoted opensuse-kde community, but fixes are still happening in trunk so here's the skinny on what will happen via online update as we approach KDE 4.1: * openSUSE 11.0 released with kdepim 4.1beta1 DONE * post-gold-master online update containing selected critical bugfixes DONE. This fixes some ugly bugs (kde#153740, #156319, #156990, #158354, #162673, #162707, #162711, #162897, #163159, #163268, and #163408, and the infamous bnc#398807 Kontact plugins missing beastie - we like to take care of our users * pre-4.1 update when we feel 4.1beta2 has settled down to be an improvement over the above. * Update to 4.1 final upon release Anyone using the KDE:KDE4:Factory:* repositories in the buildservice can ignore this, as they are updated roughly weekly. [opensuse-kde] kde4-plasma-wifi needs attention

Hi Guys, I currently have KDE4 installed from KDE4:KDE4:UNSTABLE:DESKTOP and I found the kde4-plasma-wifi available in the KDE4:KDE4:UNSTABLE:COMMUNITY repo. However the package is asking me to downgrade to STABLE:DESKTOP. Apart from pointing this out, I would like to offer you my help in fixing this and generally maintaining a couple of packages which need TLC on KDE4. I already have my own home repo at home:rafelbev with some old work I had done. [opensuse-kde] Networked Samba shares error message - "Could not connect to host for smb://smb-network/"

I downloaded the OpenSuSE 11.0 from OpenSuSE. In 10,3, I had no trouble joining the Active Directory windows domain. 11.0 will not join my Windows AD environment. The system does state that the domain has been joined successfully and there are no conflicts or errors listed.. But the error message "Could not connect to host for smb://smb-network/" appears when trying to view the networked SAMBA shares. Does the same thing after a reboot. Any idea what I should be looking at, fixing, or installing? The ",conf" files appear to be all right. I vaguely remember a post that this had been fixed. I also vaguely remember that the fault was in KDE4 rather than the networking modules. But I cannot find that post or what the fix was. [opensuse-kde] KDE4: grouping many windows in the taskbar

Hello, I use KDE4 with openSUSE 11.0. This works quite well for me so far. One problem I could not figure out so far. Is there a way that if many windows are open, that the windows shown in the taskbar are grouped together as it was in KDE3, or is this not implemented in KDE4?
