is there any Documentation available, in which way SuSE takes Settings for a
To clarify this question a little bit:
$user logs on to KDE for the first time. Therefore he doesn't have
a .kde-folder in his home directory.
Now the question:
From where are the settings taken, upon which .kde is built, i mean the
Default-Settings. How is this realised at SuSE(9.3) and which
Directories/Files do play a role?
It looks like, that SuSE found his own way to "hide" several KDE-Settings. Are
these things documented somewhere?
Sorry for my rather bumpy english today, I guess I should find some more sleep
or get more coffee :-)

I know that Linux is sometimes a hard thing. But don´t give up - everything I
wanted could be realized! And the community is greeeat what concerns support!

Your laptop, does it have an Intel CPU? I know that there are Intel CPUs which
are build up with 2 cores, and that´s why SuSE chooses the multi-kernel
(=smp) at installation time. So this could be correct!

I mean if you checked in the internet if there´s a new version. The website
But this should be one of the last things we´re going to do!
Next thing: After having installed the driver with ndiswrapper, please send
the output of the following commands:
- rcnetwork status
I just noticed that I don't get any notifications from korganizer. For
example an event where I configured to get a notification dialog 15
minutes prior to the event. Nothing happened.
I found out that I don't have the kalarmd icon in the tray. Starting
"kalarmd" from the command line didn't yield any output or error and
the icon was not appearing. I can see the process with "ps"
nonetheless. But it just isn't working.
In addition I don't see any menu entry to start it. And no right-click
in the tray to add it either.
I'm using SUSE 9.1 Personal with the KDE 3.5 package from the
"supplementary" repositories. Does anybody have an idea what's wrong?

I put some icons onto my desktop and want them to stay at the positions
I put them. One icon is placed at X=40 and Y=560 with a 1048x756 screen.
My problem is that KDE nows better than me where to place the icon,
therefore the icon moves downward every time I log in.
Is there a way to tell KDE not to change the positions that I specify in

I am very new to Suse linux and trying to set up my wireless
connection. I am having trouble getting Yast to configure the device.
The subsystem sees the device but Yast will not let me configure it.
I'm pretty sure that I set it up correctly in Yast. The link below
shows the terminal output for trying to get it to work after
installing ndiswrapper and then configuring the new device in Yast.
If anyone could help me with this I would appreciate it.
For your information:
I posted a similar question on the kdepim-users lists and got the following
answer from Adriaan de Groot.

_Sending_ email from a Palm via KMail is broken in KDE 3.5.x, due to a change
in KMail's interface.

In the current KPilot - the one developed outside of KDE SVN, at
www.kpilot.org - sending works again (probably - I just fixed the use of the
interface, haven't tested); there is no retrieval of mail. No one has wanted
mail retrieval badly enough the past three years to do something about it. I
don't think it's that _hard_, you can either walk a maildir folder, parse an
mbox (eww) or use DCOP to ask KMail for the contents of a folder (I think - I
haven't seen what's actually *in* FolderIface). For each message, write it to
the database on the Palm (taking into account that the mail DB only can
handle an 8k message). Straightforward, but it needs someone to pick it up.

Did somebody already install kde-3.5.1? How is it compared to 3.5.0, that I'm
running now? Any trouble or just install and all is working better?
Looking forward to your feedback!
Without a home the journey is endless
When I update to KDE 3.5.1 via Yast from the supp-dir I get two conflicts.
- libdrm-devel is missing and needed by kdelibs-devel
- khotkeys still wants kdebase 3.5.0
I found packages for libdrm, yet not supplied by suse and since I do not use
khotkeys, just the question, if anybody encountred any problems after
ignoring that dependency.
I'm trying to build the current svn state of amarok on SuSE 9.3, but:
make -f admin/Makefile.common

I had the "undefined macro: _m4_divert_diversion" problem once, but I

Somebody with an idea, what's wrong here?
