Hello, after I'd updated my system to kde3 I found that the clock in the login-manager disappeared. I'd looked in the controlcenter and found all nice. In Appearance is marked "show clock" but I only get a black box. If I switch the setting to "show logo" I get a logo. Does somebody know where I found the clock and how I have to install it? Michael

KMail does not remember which Mail was already read

Hi, I have a nasty problem with KMail. In some folders (especially if the amount of Mails becomes >20) KMail does not remember, which mails have already been read. E.g. I read a new mail, Kmail marks is correctly as read. After restarting KMail exactly this mail is marked as new. This Problem accours only in a few folders. The Mailbox is in maildir format (and was created by KMail 1.4). In the mailbox, all mails, that have been read are in the folder cur but they are not recognized as already read. Konq & Launching Progs as Root

It has always been my practice to run as a user, and to invoke Konq & Konsole in superuser mode when I need them thus. But with Suse8 I can no longer (as a user) launch X-based programs su from these windows. Logged in as root I can, but not when as a user and launching from these programs as superuser. For instance in Konq I cannot right-click|OpenWith|AdvancedEditor a file: "KDEInit could not launch 'kwrite'". I can read it in the embedded viewer, but it will not launch. Audio & KDE start up slowness

When I upgraded two computers both running SuSE 7.3 to KDE 3.0 (XFree 4.2), KDE audio programs work on one but not the other. On computer A, xmms and noatun both work. On computer B, only xmms plays files. Also, I've noticed that KDE (both 2.x and 3) seems to start faster on Red Hat Linux. Is there any way to speed things up? Generally, I have to wait about 40 seconds for KDE to start on my Pentium 4 1.6Ghz and 512 MB of RAM. With Red Hat, it takes only about 20 seconds on the first time and each successive time. With SuSE 7.3 it takes about 20 seconds after the first login. Is there any way to speed this initial log in time? Thanks

Honoring X geometry

I'm running KDE 2.2.2 and I can't figure out how to get KDE to honor an X geometry specification. My .Xdefaults file contains the line xclock*geometry: 208x29-0-46 but xclock still shows up in the upper lefthand corner with a different-size window than I asked for. I'm starting xclock from my KDE autostart folder. Paul Abrahams

Hi, Hi downloaded a splash screen from kde-look.org (from the conectiva distribution). Now, to substitute the mosfet liquid style that I have now on the startup of kde3 where do I have to put the files ? Using Suse 8.0 Pro. Thanks ./ luis oliveira

8.0 and Shutdown Dialog (Dragon Gone)

And when I drop to login window, there's no shutdown button anymore, even though it's clearly set correctly in KControl|System|Login, and worked for me in 7.3 . I have to go to Console1 to reboot. Anyone else seeing this? konsole hat unlesbare fonts... SuSE 7.3

Hi Leute, ich habe meinen SuSE 7.3 KDE 2 Desktop ne Weile benutzt und dann plötzlich Probleme mit den Schriften bekommen.... Erst haben sich in KMAIL die Fonts wieder geändert, und heute fällt mir auf, daß ich im Konsolen-Fenster einen Font habe, den ich nirgends ändern kann und der sehr schlecht lesbar ist, weil in der Breite nur etwa 2/3 des Buchstabens angezeigt werden, das restliche Drittel wird vom nächsten Buchstaben verdeckt. Hat irgendwer einen Tip, bzw. wo kann ich die Schriftart ändern.
