KMail forgetting folder preferences

All, SuSE 8.0. KDE 3.0.2 (latest YOU update said 3.0.2-1). I have 11 folders for mailing lists, and corresponding filter rules to populate them from the incoming mail. On all of them, I have checked KMail "Preferences > Folder holds a mailing list", and added the appropriate posting address to the associated field. However, a couple of the Properties were set more recently than others. I just noticed that the properties are set, and work correctly for most of my lists, but a couple of them, including suse-linux-e(a)suse.com, are not set. I can set them as often as I like, but the settings are lost when I close and re-open KMail. The Properties for the SuSE KDE folder (and most of my other folders) do not disappear. They were set several months ago. The unsettable ones were originally set at a later date, so I may have updated KDE in between the first bunch of settings and the later ones (attempted). Suggestions? Is 3.0.3 or 3.0.4 available via YOU for SuSE 8.0? /kevin -- ** DIR-ty DEEDS, and they're DONE dirt cheap. (Sing it, now...)

Fix for broken battery meter in Suse Linux 8.1

Just worked through this problem on KDE, and sent this to them, and wanted you all to know about it too. Glen On a fresh load of Suse Linux 8.1 containing KDE 3.0.3 on my Dell Inspiron 8000 latptop, the battery meter was "X"'ed out and not displaying correctly. Moreover, if I tried to open the icon, I'd get a message that my ACPI kernel support was only partially enabled. Even building a new kernel with the ACPI support fully in the kernel didn't work. Many thanks to Derek Fountain who pointed me in the direction of his solution, which is to add: apm=on acpi=off to the GRUB menu or lilo.conf file, making them kernel parameters on boot. Booting in this way restored perfect service to my KLaptop battery meter! Submitted just to help others find a solution - the problem seems to be in the Dell BIOS's interaction with the SuSE kernel - but since it's manifested in KDE, I wanted to report it here. Glen

[Konqueror 3.0.0] versteckte Navigationsleisten

Hallo Liste, mein Konqueror hat seit gestern nur noch eine verkümmerte Bookmarkleiste und die Menueleiste. Die Ursache des ganzen muss ich wohl auf ein unbeabsichtigtes "Verstecken" der anderen Leisten zurückführen, was aber nicht widerrufbar ist. Ich habe schon probiert die Leisten zu de- und dann wieder zu aktivieren, was aber auch keine Erfolg brachte. Kennt jemand die Lösung für mein Problem, welches Konqueror unbrauchbar gemacht hat? Bug: kdesktop_lock gives no prompt after enabling focus follows mouse mode on windows

Hi, I've got the following problem on suse8.1 whenever I activate focus follows mouse mode: Whenever I lock the screen (which calls kdesktop_lock) I can't login again, because there is no prompt and I can't input anything into the password field of the login window. My best guess is the window never gets the focus. I checked the sources and saw that suse changed quite a lot in in that program (see kdm-lock.dif in the src.rpm of kdebase-3.0.3), so my guess is that it's a suse and not a kde bug. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone know of a fix? If not, where should I report the bug ? Holger.

Kmix doesn´t appear

Hello everybody, I´ve got a SuSE 81 with KDE 304. Kmix won´t start any more. whenm I start kmix in the toolbar appears a "block" but it doesn´t display anything. KDE 303 doesn't start !

Hello, I downloaded KDE 303 from Suse site. Actually this is an update to my Suse 73 system. Everything went fine during the upgrade, but... when I am starting the system he's starting the old KDE 221. I suspect that a variable, probably KDEDIR must be modified for the new instalation. Which I've done it by writing it to bashrc, .profile, even rcConfig, but still doesn't start. Could you help me with this issue ? I will greatly appreciate your help. Suse 8.0 - fonts defekt nach Grafikkartenwechsel

Hi, ich benutze eine Standardinstallation von Suse 8.0. Nachdem ich gestern meine Grafikkarte ausgewechselt habe, hat yast die neue Karte eingebunden. Allerdings sind nun viele Applikationen mit einem defekten Font ausgestattet. Das heisst, ich sehe nur leere Vierecke statt den richtigen Font. Für die ICONs konnte ich einen anderen Font einstellen, aber z.B. für die console bekomme ich keinen anderen Font eingestellt. Hat jemand einen Tip für mich ? Vielen Dank für eure Hilfe. Andreas

I tried upgrading to the new version from the XFree86.org pages. I followed their Install procedure and can get kde to work if I log in and do startx. But my SuSE login window at bootup doesn't come up, just the login: prompt. What did I break? I can swap back in my old /usr/X11R6 and old /etc/X11 directories, and the login window comes back at bootup. What's missing? Does anyone at SuSE have a version of this that works properly? Setting Environment Variables for QT Libraries - Problems installing KDE 304

Hi, I am installing KDE 304 and I am following all indications from Trolltech's documentation regarding the environment variables. Unfortunately even after the setup mentioned in the install guide QTDIR still points to the older "qt2". I looked everywhere to find out where is setup this variable but I did not find. Applying the KDE 3.04 patch RPMs

I have Suse Pro 8.1. Using Yast2 I downloaded all the RPM patches for the KDE 3.04 update. However, I interrupted the download beacuse it was downloading all the language extensions despite these not being selected for download. Now that I have all the *.patch.rpm files, how do I install them? I was dismayed to find that Yast2 doesn't remember what it had downloaded and always starts downloading from the beginning so I can't seem to use Yast2 to do it. Unlike the Yast2 of old. How do I install them? Peter
