Hi,
could please add me [1] to the openSUSE GitHub organization?
Specifically, I need access to the rpmlint repos. I assume a colleague
can grant me the necessary privileges there, once I'm part of the
organization.
Thanks in advance,
Wolfgang

Hi folks,
today it is my pleasure to thank two of our members, which is always
a nice thing:
Andrew Wafaa, for serving as our treasurer for many years and helping
with the travel support program (TSP) among others.
And Syds Bearda for stepping up and agreeing to become our new treasurer.
Syds has been a financial controller/accountant for 15 years, in a
variety of businesses and freelancing, and is an expert in "everything
with computers and numbers".
There is not a lot of travel going on these days, sadly (and Doug has
been skillfully helping with TSP), but hopefully that will change. ;-)
In addition Syds and me will be looking to create a budget overview
around openSUSE with the help of colleagues at SUSE.
Please join me in thanking Andrew and welcoming Syds to the role!
Gerald (on behalf of the Board)

Guys,
Red Hat just announced a program where open source projects can get RHEL
subscriptions for free - wouldn't that be a good idea for the build
service?
Announcement here:

Hi again.
A good symbol to go along with the release of openSUSE Leap 15.3 I
believe is the yin and yang. I propose that artwork to market this
release show the symbiotic relationship of Leap and SLE with a yin yang
design. The imagery should help with the marketing. I put the topic in
the marketing work group notes - https://etherpad.opensuse.org/p/153wg.
If you have any designs you want to share or other ideas on this topic,
I'd love to read it.

Hi all,
A few of us plan to meet on March 3 at 18:00 UTC for a marketing work group for openSUSE Leap 15.3. We will be doing the work group onhttps://meet.opensuse.org/153marketing
We want to make this a regular thing leading up to the release.
We will start to work on the release announcement athttps://etherpad.opensuse.org/p/153release
We are collecting ideas at https://etherpad.opensuse.org/p/153wg, so feel free to add some of your ideas for the marketing of the release and please join us if you are able to.

Hi,
I would like to move the following repos to the openSUSE Github
organization:
https://github.com/avindra/suserpmutilhttps://github.com/avindra/deno
The suserpmutil repo has utilities for vendoring Rust and Go modules. The
scripts are rather simple but they get the vendor tarballs created with
minimal effort.
The deno repo is a fork relating to JavaScript; it concerns packaging deno
with advanced versions of v8.
Also if possible, I would like to join the public list at:
https://github.com/orgs/openSUSE/people
Thanks,
avindra goolcharan
Hello openSUSE!
we've had a beta submission deadline last Wednesday however all
required changes were not yet accepted in SUSE Linux Enterprise.
We expect changes to land today/tomorrow. This will then trigger quite
some rebuilds on the Leap side. Keep in mind that openSUSE Leap 15.3 is
newly based on SLE 15 SP3 binaries so we really have to mirror SLE in
this regard.
We were originally aiming for having some publishable build by this
Wednesday* but this won't be the case. I'm optimistically aiming for
having an SLE 15 SP3 Public Beta-based build in openqa by end of this
week and perhaps something publishable by Wednesday. This of course
will be all driven by the test results of the build(s).

FWI, am still having issues rebuilding rpm due to path
mismatches between RH file layouts in the rpm and where the
opensuse spec file is looking for things.
I had hoped that rpm-config-suse might hold the config for
building the rpm with opensuse paths, but this hope was dashed.
Maybe I should file a bug against rpm-config-suse? I dunno?

Hey all,
*Please forward to anyone potentially interested*
In the wake of the post survey discussions, a bunch of volunteers have
risen to the challenges of improving diversity, knowledge transfer and
cross-community bonds: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Newscom
We feel like a bi-weekly newsletter might work for that, to be served on
our web platforms and shipped in the form of a mobile screen friendly
newsletter, available in the most spoken languages in the community (for
starters: Spanish, Indonesian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian) and
broadcast across all information channels available.
Unlike its glorious ancestor
(https://en.opensuse.org/Archive:Weekly_news_99) the newsletter will
have both a cultural and a technical facet. You'll learn more about the
former in our upcoming call for participants, but I'd like to ask you
something about the latter: would some of you -- I have in mind
contributors to 101.opensuse.org, package maintainers and Heroes -- be
interested in, respectively:
- being advertised in our first issue (to fix ideas: we could write an
article about 101.opensuse.org and encourage people from these
communities to participate as either maintainers, mentors or mentees)
- having their package spotlit, simply to make it more visible or
attract new maintainers
- highlight key areas in our infrastructure, platforms and activities
that could benefit from more volunteers.
Do let us know!
Cheers,
Adrien
