The board has approved the openSUSE board election proposal as
written up on this list
http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-project/2008-03/msg00252.html with
the change that for now the board will do the membership approval, the
details are now in the wiki at http://en.opensuse.org/Board/Election.
We discussed the membership approval and consider that right now a task
for the board - and not a burden - and also do not want to give the
election committee too much work.
We're now asking for volunteers for the openSUSE election team to drive
the election process.
The members of the election team have the following duty:
* Drive the openSUSE board elections - this means the complete process
starting by collecting volunteers, deciding on how to do the voting,
driving the setup of any tools for the voting, announcing the election
and results.
Note: Members of the election team will not be able to stand up for the
openSUSE board election themselves.
If you're interested, please mail the openSUSE board at
board(a)opensuse.org,
Andreas

Introduction
March to RC1 almost complete
11.1 alpha0 2 weeks after 11.0
Factory testing discussion
Kernel bug very annoying
ACPI brekage on post-beta 3
Under prioritized bugs
Today's openSUSE bug voting day
http://en.opensuse.org/GNOME/Bugs contains links to queries based on voting
AI: (everyone) vote for bugs
Schedule 10.3 bug squash
10.2 and older bugs have been squashed
AI: hobbsc to set up http://en.opensuse.org/GNOME/BugDays , find a date and run the 10.3 squash
Community outreach/clinic/howto
Looking for new ways to increase community involvement/awareness
Weekly meetings in the channel covering various topics of interest to users, trying to make them a collaborative effort, where users can talk about their needs
Write HOWTO's out of those meetings
AI: suseROCKS and captain_magnus to get the ball rolling on this next week
Pulseaudio
gnome-applets patched to run PA volume control, and is now included in the panel by default
Discussion going on opensuse-gnome about what to do with padevchooser
PackageKit
Should all be ok for Friday's RC1 submission date
Zypper sometimes shows lots of updates but then does not update anything
Multi-head wrap-up
We can't get rid of resapplet for 11.0, as right now it's the only way we have to do rotation easily for tablets
X drivers are a total mess, and SaX doesn't help with setting up an xorg.conf that is friendly to doing RANDR changes dynamically
Other distros not using resapplet
The recommendation now is:
• use gnome-display-properties to set up your multihead setup, *after* reading the caveats in the wiki (http://en.opensuse.org/GNOME/Multiscreen)
• use resapplet just to rotate if you are on a tablet
Theme meetings
We need to get back on track with these
What technical topics do we want to cover? -> X, kiwi ? , GNOME / KDE cooperation

Just in case there's anyone who still doesn't know but drop me a line to
be added to Planet SUSE.
Look out on the planet for blogs with names beginning "Lizards: ..." -
they'll be people who have other blogs on the site already but have
joined the Lizards crew.
