Community Meeting: Week 44

Hi all, We will have a community meeting today(Tuesday) at 14:30 UTC (60 minutes). This will be an hour earlier in local time for those who had daylight savings. Community Meeting 2 is scheduled for Thursdays at 20:00 UTC. This time was adjusted, which means it will happen at a similar local time we were having it for those who had daylight savings already. openSUSE infrastructure migration

Hi everyone, this week are starting to migrate various machines to our new location in Prague. This will cause intermittent outage of affected services. I will be updating https://status.opensuse.org/ where possible. If there are any issues not correlating to a report on status.opensuse.org, please reach out in #opensuse-admin (on ircs://irc.libera.chat) or open a ticket [1] in order for us to investigate. Creative Freedom Summit

Hi all, openSUSE is excited to be collaborating with Fedora to be a part of the upcoming Creative Freedom Summit, which is an event dedicated to promoting the use of Creative Free Software. The event will be using our Jitsi for streaming and broadcasting to platforms. The Creative Freedom Summit is calling for proposals for talks and sessions for the 2024 event. They invite members of the open-source community to submit their ideas. The deadline for proposals is November 24th, 2023. Submit your proposals via the Fedora Project CfP Platform - https://cfp.fedoraproject.org/ You can sign on using your GitHub, Gmail, or Fedora Account login credentials. This is an excellent opportunity for the openSUSE community to share their expertise, experiences, and insights related to Creative Free Software, and to contribute to the greater Open Source Design community. Dear openSUSE Contributors, A few of us within the community want to extend our heartfelt thank you and appreciation for your dedicated community in ensuring the security and integrity of openSUSE's distributions, tools and communications channels. We want to acknowledge that swift and decisive measures to prevent malicious content from infiltrating the openSUSE ecosystem is of the upmost importance. As we unfortunately witnessed with Ubuntu recent release, some people will act with malicious intent and use hate speech. Our hearts go out to the Ubuntu community for the challenges they've faced. Stay strong, friends. Your commitment to maintaining a high standard is highly appreciated. openSUSE members have been actively guarding and protecting our community's image from threats, which is commendable. We realize that what happend to Ubuntu can happen to other distributions, and we should remain vigilant and dedication to safeguarding the user community. We encourage discussion about this topic and have a few key points we would like to emphisize below. Weblate open source: The open-source community relies on collaborative tools like Weblate to ensure translations and contributions are secure. We encourage contributions to this tool as it could help identify harmful content. Awareness: It's essential to spread awareness about the need for a content review and security checks in open-source projects. By doing so, we can make a proactive stance against any potential threats. Resilience: Building resilience in our open-source ecosystems is crucial. This resilience not only shields us from threats but also guarantees a safe and harassment-free environment.
