Hi all,
Next week on Nov. 6 will be the first meeting for oSC19 on the
opensuse-project Channel on IRC. The meeting will start at 18:00 UTC. If
you want to join, please do so. I will pass out the meeting minutes the
following day. Currently we have 22 registrations and 5 submissions. If
you haven't submitted a talk yet, please do so at
https://events.opensuse.org/conference/oSC19. The call for papers will
close on Feb. 3, so you have about 95 days to submit a talk.

# Board Meeting Minutes Oct 02 2018
# Apologies
Ana (Reason Given)
Simon (Reason Given)
# Minutes
## Bugshare
Discussion of Bugshare. Board is concerned that the Bugshare team is
receiving a disproportionate amount of requests unrelated to
unblocking contributions.
Board agreed on the principle that the bugshare team should prioritise
requests which have a clear need identified by the contributor.
## Copyright
Board discussed a situation of a copyright request related to an
established website/group.
Board decided to give them permission on the conditions that this
group should abide by the following principles
- Guiding Principles
- Forum rules
- Logo use properly
- Non profit operation
Confirmation with our legal team is pending.
## Elections/Call for Volunteers
The Organisation of the next Board Election is currently blocked
pending volunteers for the election committee. Elections has only
recieved 1 volunteer for the Election Committee, but need at least 2
and wish for more.
The meetings attendees are collectively disappointed in the community,
and find it puzzeling that topics about Board transparency can produce
email threads involving dozens of contributors, but there appears to
be little or no interest in running the elections that will replace
the current Board.
AI: The Board will be sending reminder announcements about the open
call for volunteers for the Election Committee.
## openSUSE Foundation
Limited discussions due to Simon (who is taking the lead on this
topic) being absent.
>From SUSE's point of view all of the draft ideas being bounced around
so far carry no objections from thier side.
The Board would like to see some draft ideas shared with the community
before the next Election so the topic can be part of the Election
campaigning.

Hi all,
I was talking with some developers at the Open Source Summit Europe and
they mentioned that the Call for Papers for DevConf in Czech Republic
will be this Friday. Please consider submitting a talk at
https://devconf.info/cz. The developers specifically asked for talks
about Kubic. Devconf will take place the weekend before FOSDEM in Brno.

Hi All,
As was written in our last board minutes, to give plenty of time to
organise our board elections as per the Board Election Rules[1], the
board has decided to ask for volunteer's for the board election
community a little earlier (now) Chuck has already proactively read our
minutes and has put his name forward as a volunteer, so the remaining
question is does anyone want to volunteer to help him?

Hi there,
currently I'm working on an internal project that relies heavily on some
of the openSUSE projects (e.g. osc2, suseapi). Unfortunately no one is
working on the Python3 migration of those projects and the latter showed
no feedback on issue reports or pull requests.
So in order to migrate by project to Python3 I would like to drive
especially the latter project as it appears to be abandoned and broken
in it's current state in the master branch.
Thanks for adding me (name of GitHub: crazyscientist) to the "openSUSE
Committers" team :)
Cheers, Andi

Just letting people know I didn't die (yet) in case the anyone wonders out loud
on any of the lists, forums or in BOO. Hurricane Michael threatens flooding
downstairs where my most used puter stations live. If current forecast holds,
there will be storm surge in the house in around 4 hours.
