As such, maintaining 447 [1] openSUSE members should not depend on a
single tool. Especially not if the used tool has open, well known
security issues since years[2].

I made my proposal already and I stand the point: shut down an insecure
system!
what does "drive forward a solution" mean? Can we integrate the
functions of connect.o.o into other services at openSUSE which are
allready maintained like the openSUSE wiki? A form for travel support
for example?
An application for membership could be done by e-mail to an e-mail
address of the membership officials. Elections could be done with an
eVote software like https://github.com/mdipierro/evote for example, but
probably there are better tools.
What did I miss?
I think Lars is right an we should shutdown this insecure system as soon
as possible.

Christian Imhorst

Hi, Christian:

Elections are over. Let's get started.

Hello dear fellow opensuse-enthusiasts!
I am wondering about openSUSE connect - there is a huge amount of spam
on it and it really is not a shiny & bright representation of the
openSUSE project.
Who is in charge of it?
I think we should deal with it.
cheers

Hi,
Due to upcoming closure of openSUSE Lizards personal blogs, we are
sending you
your backup copy of submitted data. It's up to you to decide what to do
with it,
but we hope it will still be up for everyone to see, because it's an
important
piece of openSUSE and your history!
We were however unable to find working email addresses for people with
following
usernames:
aorlovskyy, flucifredi, froh, gogga, hobbsc, holden87, idulk, kdupuy9,
michl19,
nikanth, rhorstkoetter, sjayaraman, UngaMan, visnov
Also if you haven't been sent an archive with data and you submitted
any posts,
please let us know!
Lizards blogs will soon turn into read only archived version of the
site, and
one day will stop being accessible overall, so please update your links
wherever
you can.
We also recommend you to use https://planet.opensuse.org with your
personal
blogs, because we would really like to still see what you are up to in
regards
to the openSUSE project. You can submit your site to this repository:

Have a lot of fun!

Hello, Heroes team
You may know (or not), that opensuse-project mailing list is heavily
discussing the shutdown of connect and the replacement by something else.
As temporary measure, some of us want to try remove the spam on the
<https://connect.opensuse.org/>, while others discuss and try a
replacement. We would need some kind of access to the platform.
any hint appreciated

Glad to hear that. So, while the ramblings go on, let's ponder on the
course of action.
I find that the Nextcloud + Spreadsheet alternative can be a good
*temporary* start. However, it does not address some points that Richard
raised, like people being able to apply for membership and provide an
easy interface for the membership officials to evaluate the application.
That being said we could explore existing open source software that
address such issues already. I think Admidio [1] and Tendenci [2] are
worth investigating.
Your thoughts?
