Dear Community,
SUSE is preparing to pro-actively release a significant portion of the
SUSE Linux Enterprise source code, including a regular stream of
maintenance updates, to the openSUSE Project.
These packages will give the community an enduring, stable, and
maintained base, upon which exciting community led offerings could be
built.
An openSUSE community distribution built upon this base can plan for a
sustainable stream of packages, as we intend to continue releasing and
updating this platform in line with the cadence of SUSE Linux
Enterprise and it's service packs.
We at SUSE are going to be using this opportunity to focus more
engineering efforts on the common elements between SLE and openSUSE,
by directly increasing contributions to openSUSE and sharing sources,
tools and processes to optimize collaboration for the mutual benefits.
As members of the openSUSE community, we at SUSE invite everyone else
in the community to collaborate on this base and to consider
leveraging it for future openSUSE releases.
We're keen to hear your feedback and talk about involvement in this project.
For more details, I will be presenting about this concept in detail
and how we propose it could be adopted by openSUSE at the openSUSE
Conference on Friday, at 10:15 in the Main Hall.
Have a lot of fun,
Richard Brown
openSUSE Board Chairman

Mighty goodlord, this is too much salestalk/marketspeak.
The significant portion of SLE code is from openSUSE and/or other
open projects anyway, so that may not be all that exciting.

Reads to me like "The openSUSE distribution converges with SLE and the
two become the new SUSE Linux (open, this time)".
Would not even be bad.

Hey,
Just a few weeks ago I came to know about openFATE and got so in love
with it. So, I decided to be part of openFATE Screening Team.
For that I've tried to contact on #opensuse-project on freenode. From
there I got reference to spyhawk. On contacting him I found out that
he is not doing screening. Then I've mailed everyone listed on
https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Openfate_screening. Only Andreas
Jaeger replied. And he too is not doing the screening.
So, some questions now.
Is anyone doing openFATE screening?
If anyone is doing. Then, I also want to start screening. Tell me how
can I start?

Hello,
I just noticed that Michal Hrušecký is scheduled for two talks at the
same time (2015-05-04 13:30).
Either Michal has superpowers (or a clone ;-) or one of the talks should
be moved to another time ;-)
(Personally, I'd like to have the "Playing with OBS" talk moved ;-)

Thank you for registering for the openSUSE Conference 2015 in the
Hague!
Conference check-in starts at 09:00 on Friday.
The address of the venue is:
Westvliet Sport Center
Westvliet 55
Den Haag
Netherlands
The closest public transport stop is Station Voorburg, which is a 5 to
10 minute walk from the conference centre.
We are looking for people to help with all kinds of stuff: Audio /
Video, lunch, dinner, helping and announcing speakers, troubleshooting,
etc - if you sign up beforehand, you can indicate what you prefer to
help with. As this is a community driven event, we count on everybody
helping out once you arrive.
The printed conference schedule is included in this email, but we are
in a fluid situation, so the best place to find out about the schedule
remains online at
https://events.opensuse.org/admin/conference/osc15/schedule
If you are a speaker, please note what time your slot is. Please note
your talk may be streamed and will be recorded. The recorded talks will
be posted online.
We look forward to seeing you over the next few days!
Best regards,
Robin Edgar

Hi JW,
thanks for letting us know what to prepare for! :-)
Will more people from Neuremberg want to use the sleepover? You seem to be the only one that actually registered! ;-)

Hi all!
At any conference, the hallway track is at least as important as the "formal" talks and workshops, and for openSUSE Conference and Kolab Summit we think we have an excellent selection of social activities to engage in and get to know your fellow conference attendees!
For Friday we don't have an "official" social event planned, how ever we won't leave you hanging in midair!
At the conference venue we'll have the pretty great AwesomeRetro gameconsoles to improve your Duckhunting skills and suchlike and there will be simple food like fries and suchlike.
Beer:
However, we also arranged a room at what has officially been awarded as "The Netherlands Best Beer Restaurant" which is Rootz slap bang in The Hagues' great city center near the Grote Markt!
Here is the English version of their website http://www.rootz.nl/best-beer-restaurant
Info about the Saturday and Sunday will follow asap (hint, it will involve BBQ's and beer)!
Enjoy!
