Just now I got a spam email on the security mail list, weighting 3.9M!
Can't a filter be forced at opensuse.org not to allow such a big email to
be sent to everybody (regarldess if it is spam or not)?

All,
I've been looking into AWS the last day or so. I found a huge number
of preconfigured VM images to choose from:
https://aws.amazon.com/amis/
But nothing with openSUSE 12.1/12.2/12.3.
https://aws.amazon.com/search?searchQuery=opensuse&searchPath=amis&x=-894&y…
Either I'm missing something, or that is something that could easily
be maintained in susestudio and uploaded to AWS shortly after each
release.
Can any provide insight into why that isn't already happening?

Hi,
According to https://en.opensuse.org/Lifetime it was to be discontinued
last wednesday, but there have been no emails on the opensuse-announce
mail list.
I expected:
Advance discontinuation notice for openSUSE 12.1
and about a month later a:
openSUSE 12.1 has reached end of SUSE support
none of which have been posted. Change of mind or slip-up?

Hello,
If someone is able to organize a booth or wants to give talks at
FrOSCon (St. Augustin, Germany), some informations are included for
you. The deadline is May 23rd .
Greetings
Marcel
Call for Projects 2013
// English \\ (für eine Deutsche Version siehe unten)
although it has been a while since last FrOSCon, we would like to
thank you again for having made this very successful event possible.
The feedback was once again overwhelmingly positive.
Meanwhile, preparations for the eighth FrOSCon are well underway.
This year's FrOSCon takes place on August 24th and 25th.
We would be pleased if your project would like to contribute again to
this year's FrOSCon and thus support the communication and exchange
within the Open Source and Free Software community. Depending on the
kind of your participation, there is different information available
to you.
# Booth #
To sign up for a booth, please visit
https://callforprojects.froscon.org and register your project. Please
feel free to contact us for any questions at exhibitors(a)froscon.org.
The registration for booths will be open until May 23rd.
# Developer Room #
If your project wants to sign up for a developer room, please visit
https://callforprojects.froscon.org, register your project and submit
a proposal. The proposal should contain a short summary (1-2
paragraphs) of what you plan to do and special requirements. Since the
demand for developer rooms usually exceeds the number of rooms we can
offer, we will choose the projects which look the most promising to us
based on the submitted proposals. If you have questions concerning the
developer rooms, feel free to contact projects(a)froscon.org. The
deadline for the submission of developer room proposals is also May
23rd.
# Talk or Workshop #
Additionally our Call for Papers already started, we are looking
forward to your submissions of talks and workshops. You can register
via http://cfp.froscon.org/. For further information concerning the
Call for Papers take a look at
http://www.froscon.de/en/program/call-for-papers/. The Call for Papers
will end on May 23rd, too.
# Important Dates #
May 23, 2013 End of Call for Projects. After this deadline your
project can only be accepted if there is still enough space on the
conference and enough time to organize your participation
June 9th,2013 Notification if we accepted your project for a booth
and/or developer room
October 24th,2013 First day of FrOSCon
We hope to meet you at FrOSCon in St. Augustin.
Kind regards,
The FrOSCon Team
// Deutsch \\
https://callforprojects.froscon.org anmelden. Die Deadline für
Aussteller ist der 23. Mai 2013. Wenn ihr Fragen habt, dann könnt ihr
euch jederzeit an uns wenden (aussteller(a)froscon.org).
# Entwicklerraum #

Hi,
For some unknown time time I do not receive the corresponding emails from
Bugzilla when I create a report, add a comment, get a comment, get a
request for "needinfo", etc. I get absolutely no emails from Bugzilla.
This means that if somebody is waiting for a response from me, I will
never know about it - and I have hundreds of reports in my list.
I changed nothing, it simply stopped working.
My email is working, it is the one above.
I posted a Bugzilla about this, but I still have not got any response from
the people that handle Bugzilla (not even "it is not here, please contact
so and so", or whatever).
<https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=818001>
Bug 818001 - I'm not getting emails from Bugzilla
Please, can somebody from Novell/SUSE/Attachmate please find out what is
hapening?

The openSUSE Travel Support Team opened the Travel Support Request
Submission tool( https://connect.opensuse.org/travel-support/ ) for
requests related to the openSUSE Conference 2013 in Thessaloniki(
http://conference.opensuse.org/ ). The goal is to help everybody in
and around openSUSE to be able to come to the openSUSE Conference! You
don’t have to be one of the top 10 packagers to apply – if you’re
translating, building a local community or helping out at the forums,
we might still be able to offer you support, so apply! Only 2 days
left so don't waste valiable time that can be used for packing ;D
A few reminders
Please, read the Travel Support wiki
page(http://opensuse.org/openSUSE:Travel_Support_Program) carefully
before you apply.
We want everybody to be there! Even if you think you would not qualify
for travel support, just submit a request! If you don’t ask we can’t
help you!
The Travel Committee can reimburse up to 80% of travel and lodging
costs. That includes plane ticket, train and bus tickets (no taxi),
even car gas on some occasions, and hotel or hostel costs. Food and
all local expenses are on you!
The Travel Team won’t be able to book or pay anything in advance,
reimbursement comes after the event is over, based on receipts you
keep of your expenses.
Again: no receipts = no money – it’s the rules!
Those sponsored by the Travel Team have to write a blog or report on
the event and are expected to be available for helping with tasks at
the event where needed!
Sponsorship decisions are influenced by the openSUSE history of the
requester. Your involvement with openSUSE is really relevant!
Having an abstract submitted for presentation at the conference is
relevant as well. Note that the CfP is extended so there is still
time!
If you got support before and complied with all the requirements, this
gets you bonus points too.
The amount requested must be detailed according to your request, like
the airport you will be departing from, sharing hotel/hostel rooms,
costs associated with your trip.
Try to get the best fares for tickets and lodging. Remember if
approved at least 20% (and sometimes more) will be paid by you.
Have Fun
The TSP Team
