Hi All,
As GSoC project for openSUSE News/ Planet, I am going to implement a
Phonegap application. Therefore we don't need to limit for Android, we
can use this application in lot of popular mobile platforms like iOS,
Android, Wndows Mobile and BlackBerry etc. I discussed thoroughly with
mentor Manu and submitted a proposal for this Phonegap application.
And I created an openFATE request which describes my implementation plan again.
https://features.opensuse.org/315044
I already have implemented crucial language changing functionality as
version 1 of my app and have attached the apk file together with the
above request. Currently that demo supports languages like English,
French, Japan and Hungarian. Now I am adding more languages as in
planet.oo.
First there will be a list with brief descriptions of each news items
of selected language. When you click on an item, detail view of
selected news item will be displayed. Here I used JQuery mobile and a
custom CSS file. Therefore I could give nice different appearance
together with JQuery mobile.
Please give your suggestions and feedbacks about this request and its
features and give a vote if it is useful for openSUSE.
Thanks in Advance..!!

I have already sent my GSoC proposal.
Here's a link to the openFATE request, regarding the same.
https://features.opensuse.org/315040
The request also contains a demo app.
Do vote if you find it helpful
and comment with suggestions, if any
Thanks and regards,

Hi all,
being involved with oSC13 and seeing Matt's effort to create OSEM I
thought it would be a great opportunity to help out a bit more
actively.
I am personally motivated to help in the implementation of such
application, as I often organize FOSS events and conferences.
Moreover I think it is a great effort, what Matt started, and this
platform will be widely useful to be used by FOSS communities for
their event planning.
So I have submitted a proposal to gsoc for osem improvements & enhancements.

Hello Everyone!
I am Gergely Csordás, a student at the University of Miskolc in Hungary.
It is a smaller one, but with one of the oldest history and richest in
customs in my country.
I met with computers when I was a small child, maybe about six and my
father introduced it to me where he worked at that time and I
immediately fell in love with building, modifying computers and not just
the hardware, but researching and somewhat try to modify the software as
well.
But that was nearly one and a half decade later, when I met with Linux
and learned programming on some Basic languages. (Sorry for the pun.)
Throughout the years as I have learned some languages and tried to learn
some others, I took more adventures to the Linux world too. But
unfortunately only the last trial (which was about five years ago) was
so successful, that made me remain at the world of Linux.
Actually I was always at the passive side of the community, but one of
my friends persuaded me to be take a more active part, because it is fun
and somehow these were my thoughts as well, so we made this proposal,
which is writing a thought, the XMPP or Jabber destination, into C code.
As I already administrating several Linux servers, it is essential for
me to know what is happening and partly that was why I selected
syslog-ng as my logging service on "my" computers. I have some machines
that are critical for me and I want to get its most critical statuses to
my attention as fast as possible without opening any new windows or
running any checks by hand. I know that not just me, but nearly all IT
professionals are somewhat a lazy guy and this project is for ourselves
and getting the log messages into a faster, but good use, until someone
tries this project in a newer way, for example as a chat program. ;)
Why I would like to participate in this program? Maybe it is the best
question for anyone who wants to participate, but I think it is not
really true for me. I applied, because I am a student, a system
administrator and I have a job at the same time, but I wanted to make my
mostly free time of the year as useful as the other and to experience
something truly different what I usually do and what could be a
challenge for me.
Thank you for taking the time reading my e-mail and do not hesitate to
share your thoughts.
Kind regards,
Gergely

All,
I asked MarkMail to setup a portal to allow search opensuse mailing
lists a couple years ago. They contacted Henne eventually but nothing
seemed to come of it.
By chance I just checked to see if they ever had setup the portal and
low and behold they have. They claim to be indexing 13 lists, but the
oldest messages are only from Jan of this year.
http://opensuse.markmail.org
This view is better from my perspective because it shows the most
popular lists indexed on the left.
http://opensuse.markmail.org/search/?q=
I hope they are still in the setup phase and both more lists and older
messages will get added over time.
fyi: I'm happy to see I didn't make their list of top talkers.
Hopefully I will stay off that list!

Hi all,
I created a proposal for the project of Map Application for ownCloud
after discussing with the project mentor, Brice Maron. I submitted the
proposal into the gsoc page. I would be much grateful if I can get some
feedbacks about the proposal.
Thanks
