We've just created a NLD/SLED derived distribution for the Catalan Government. This new distribution is focused on education (schools) and the first version was released early this month: http://linkat.xtec.net We've got a lot of YaST2 translated files for catalan language and will do more translations for the next three months. [opensuse-translation] Bootloader -- HTML files?

Hi all and especially Karl. Back in the day of SUSE Linux 10.0 gfxboot had both .po and .html files as I recall. Have this changed since then or are there still some HTML-files around for the 'in-grub' menus? If there are, where do I get them? If not what is used now adays? [opensuse-translation] Indonesian Translation

Hi all, I am starting to work on Indonesian translation. I've read the guides located at http://en.opensuse.org/OpenSUSE_Localization_Guide and http://developer.novell.com/wiki/index.php/Suse-i18n-downloads. Based on the guides above, the translation process will be like the following : - checkout the repo. For Indonesian team that will be : svn checkout https://forgesvn1.novell.com/svn/suse-i18n/trunk/yast/id svn checkout https://forgesvn1.novell.com/svn/suse-i18n/trunk/lcn/id - work on the translation using KBabel or other tools on the files in local directory - commit the changes to the repo : svn commit --message "My list of changes" Is this correct ? I just want to make sure that I read the guides correctly. I don't want to damage other teams repo. [opensuse-translation] New translator, Danish Team

Hi guys I've read the howto on opensuse.org and have got myself a svn checkout and looked at Kbabel a little. I feel I'm pretty much ready to start working on Danish localization - though I certainly still have a lot to learn about svn, po-files and kbabel, but first I have a few other questions. There appears to be no Danish team at all - let alone a Danish coordinator. Is anyone else out there working on Danish translations? Appears no work has been done since June. Once I have translations ready will Karl Eichwalder be my go-to-guy? Do I e-mail him the new files or how does that work? I personally don't feel comfortable taking on a coordinator role at this point. What is the policy on changing existing translations? Other than untranslated stuff there's a lot of stuff that's pretty badly translated. I'd like to improve on that - and I plan to ask people in forums and newsgroups about bad translations. But should you ask someone before changing already translated strings or can I change anything I want whenever I want? Is there anyway to know what is being developed upstream and when not to translate stuff to avoid wasted work?.. other than doing all the translation between October 20 and November 4 of course. We use UTF-8 right? I remember like I have once seen in wiki the address of mailing list, where commits to svn repository are posted but somehow I cannot find it any more. In my case I just know that I miss a lot of standard words used in both. I can correct obvious errors, but for others I don't know is the word used in IT, or just normal conversations. Translation of technical text, performed by person that doesn't know professional jargon, can lead to funny translations, like in one example from college: Electrons are moving in electrical field ... Elektroni se krecu po elektricnoj livadi ... You know that it should be "u elekticnom polju ...", but translator didn't, and mistake was found during proofreading by person that was specialist for electrical engineering. The translation to Croatian is now on it's way, thanks to you, for the rest I have to wait, as I really don't want to produce fun like in example above. -- Regards, Rajko.
