We now have new yast translation files. Of course, all this is still heavy WIP, thus expect many changes within the next months! I'll merge the yast files in trunk later this day. Here I also enabled the --previous switch (msgmerge). [opensuse-translation] zypper in openSUSE using SLED translations instead of openSUSE ones

Hi Karl and all! I noted that the zypper in the update repository uses SLED translations instead of the one we do. I find it while using zypper, a saw that the message who appears in the screen was differente than the one I translate (and had a typo in pt_BR :-) zypp.pt_BR: * original string: Retrieving repository '%s' metadata * SLED: Recuperandoos metadados do repositório '%s' (Should be >> "Recuperando os..") * openSUSE: Obtendo os metadados do repositório '%s' The sentences are equivalent, no problem there, the problem is that this string is translated for openSUSE so why use the SLED version? [opensuse-translation] OpenSUSE vs. openSUSE (Request for clarification)

Hello everyone, I was wondering about the string in add-on-creator.po, which says "OpenSUSE" (instead of openSUSE, with a small o). I think it stands at the beginning of a sentencen or is a headline or something where you'd usually write the first latter capitalized. But does this rule apply to openSUSE as well? I always thought it's a name and therefore should be always written with a lowercase o. If've added this as a bug in bugzilla, as I think it's simply the string that is wrong. Regards Michael

[opensuse-translation] Merging lcn files

Maybe, you already noticed that there were activities in the lcn part of the suse-i18n SVN repository. Last week I asked the program maintainers to update or remove their POT files as appropriate. Some of them already took a look. I added the --previous option to the msgmerge command and would like to give it a try. Tomorrow I'd like to do a full merge--please, report any problem. For those who are new or not that familiar with the gettext tools: The --previous option was discussed some months ago. If a fuzzy match occurs, the previous msgid is preserved in a special comment (#|) and some tools (or is it lokalize only?) can make use of this special comment. This way you can quickly see what actually has changed in a msgid and updating a longish translation is not that cumbersome. Anyway, if you have changes pending, please commit them within the next 12 hours. [opensuse-translation] What's with the "aborting" status for some files?

Hi, I'm looking at ooo-build.po in http://i18n.opensuse.org/stats/trunk/ro/lcn/index.php and i'm seeing 0 strings and "aborted". Why is this happening? Good morning, I just wanted to say thank you, my openSUSE package arrived just five minutes ago. And I've to say I'm impressed :) Not only by the regular box (with flashlight and (!) batteries [think this is German version only] and Stickers), but also by the "iContributed 11.1" shirt. Today I see 49 new strings in yast trunk. Are these for 11.1 updates? Or is this 11.2 starting? Something else? [opensuse-translation] Translating openSuse documentation into french language

Hello, I'd like that the official openSuse documentation could be translated from the english one into french, i'm thus trying to gather some information to see how this could be done in a easy and confortable way. So far as i know it seems the last translated effort is from 10.1. Do you think it'd be useful to use this and update it or would it be better to start from scratch ? (if the changes since then are too much for example). I've also read about something being translated fro SLED, is this correct ? Could it be used for openSuse 11.1 ? Also i'd like to know which form could be used to prepare something easy to use and update , wiki may be ? I've got no clue of what's used so far (docbook or something ?). i also read that the spanish community is willing to do something using wiki (if i got it well), so would it be possible to set up a translating structure in common ? I'd also like to know how long before the distribution is available in final version is the english documentation available and how long is left for the translation teams and if possible the average amount of time needed to translated the whole documentation of openSUse from english into another language. It looks like this kind of job is not really looking "attractive" nor rewarding and therefore not gathering masses so i'm wondering from informations i got on the french opensuse mail list if it'd be possible to give some incentive to the main contributers ? Things like caps, t shirts, boxes of the distro and the like. Could you please tell me what's possible with all this ? Could you please help me giving your ideas, comments, questions ? Or even volonteering as the idea is to raise a team that'd be involved in this project. Hi. I commited some slovak translations (for example kio_sysinfo.sk.po, kupdateapplet.sk.po, susetranslations.sk.po) three weeks ago, exactly on friday, 5.12.2008. I´ve just installed openSUSE 11.1, but i can´t see changes in these translations. They aren´t translated. But trunk´s statistics show me, that these files are fully translated. What can be a problem? Did i commit those translations too late? [opensuse-translation] Request some help to submit some file in Gnome's SVN

Hello everyone, I know it's not the usual way to do that but let me try. I translated openSUSE's gnome-main-menu and submitted to openSUSE's SVN. Following bug request 438980 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=438980 I was told that openSUSE uses the version in Gnome's SVN. So I translated it from Gnome's POT file. Then I contacted walloon translation team coordinator (Pablo Sarachaga) to submit it (I work in KDE and openSUSE projects but in Gnome). Following some personal and technical reasons he's for now not able to comit it (the file is in attachment of the bug here: https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=256662 ) to Gnome's SVN: http://l10n.gnome.org/POT/gnome-main-menu.HEAD/ He asked me to try to do it an other way. Is anyone willing to submit it for me to Gnome's SVN? It could help me, sothat it will be included in updates of openSUSE. Thank you in advance and sorry for this weird query...
