Hello, Heroes team :-) You may know (or not), that opensuse-project mailing list is heavily discussing the shutdown of connect and the replacement by something else. We are some that would like to test membership opensource applications like galette (http://galette.eu/dc/?navlang=en), admidio (https://www.admidio.org/), clubmaster (http://www.clubmaster.org/), civicrm (http://groupspaces.com/), or raw database with phpmyadmin. is it possible to have either theses applis installed and available for some of us (me or an other) with admin rights, or a VM with openSUSE (any version), apache, php7 etc. The simpler, the better as long as we can test these apps to see if they fit our needs. any account with database access will probably fit the needs any hint appreciated thanks jdd -- http://dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner(a)opensuse.org

We just have start the bi-weekly meeting for the event with other Asian Community this week and I saw many interest from community to come to our event. Having said that, seems that we need additional budget for oSAS especially for TSP. I discuss with some people who involve in the local committee in the past and it looks like that if openSUSE can increased TSP budget it will be good for community. Why GSoC budget cannot be allocated to openSUSE.Asia Summit so that we can increase the participation from people accross the Asia or other parts of the world? Is there any specific reason about that? We are part of openSUSE and logically the money is more appropriate if it is allocated for openSUSE activities than to be donated to other organization. Hello people of openSUSE, After having around 2 months of election process, facing the short of candidates, ended up with 7 great candidates step up for this year election, we finally got the result! It is the second year we used Helios Voting System and the tally result are: Christian Boltz 141 Marina Latini 119 Dr. Axel Braun 104 Sarah Julia Kriesch 98 Vinzenz Vietzke 78 Nathan Wolf 54 Sébastien Poher 51 Congratulation to Christian, Marina and Dr. Axel Braun as the new openSUSE board. To Sarah, Vinzenz, Nathan, Sébastien thanks for your brave participation, we believe your contribution will not stop here, there are many places in openSUSE that fit for you all. We definitely need you. This will not complete without some statistics, so to make it easy for everyone searching for the archive, here are some other numbers: committee member = 2 (Apr 2018), 3 (Feb 2019) candidates = 5 (Apr 2018), 7 (Feb 2019) openSUSE Member = 400 (Apr 2018), 446 (Feb 2019) total vote cast = 237 (Apr 2018), 231 (Feb 2019) We cannot conduct a debate for this year election. We really wanted to, like last year debate, but for some reasons the universe didn't support us this time which is very sad. We thanks to all member who have the right to vote, whether you use your right to vote or not, it is a free world and everyone free to express their decision :-) We know that some members having problem with the voting invitation email which need to be investigated more deeper after this election what is the caused of that condition. The Board agreed to donate the money to KDE & GNOME, as suggested by the openSUSE GSoC org admins as alternative. AI: Richard discuss with Treasurer and answer the GSoC org admin responsible of the money by Friday ## Elections Board discussed how the elections are running smoothly ## Planet.opensuse.org Board recieved an escalation regarding a poster to planet.opensuse.org with a disruptively high rate of posts. [opensuse-project] First Phase for openSUSE Conference Talks Begins

openSUSE is pleased to announce the first phase for accepting talks for the openSUSE Conference 2019 (oSC19) has begun. A total of 80 talks were submitted during the call for papers, which began in late fall and ended Feb. 4. In total, there were 42 normal talks, two long workshops, four short workshops, 19 short talks and seven lighting talks submitted. The review team rated all the submitted abstracts and selected 22 normal talks, two long workshops, four short workshops, 13 short talks and five lighting talks. Speakers have been notified of their accepted talk and must confirm their talk by March 1. If a speaker doesn’t confirm their talk by March 1, the talk will be withdrawn and the next highest rated talks will be accepted to fill the slot as part of the second phase of the talk selections for oSC19. Phase 2 will run from March 2 to March 16. The schedule for the conference will be published shortly after Phase 2. There are five tracks listed for the conference this year. The tracks are: openSUSE Open Source Software Cloud and Containers Embedded Systems Desktop and Applications The openSUSE Conference will take place at the Z-Bau in Nuremberg, Germany, from May 24 – 26.
