My advice: don't.
Ok, I managed, but only with an openSUSE DVD and quite a few hours of
un-breaking my system ;-)
The idea is that you first do the kernel, than reboot, do
zypper/rpm/etc and the rest. But after doing the kernel it missed the
modules to mount my root so game over there...
I then used an openSUSE DVD to do the 'upgrade'. It worked but
installed outdated packages as I couldn't add the repo's I have while
upgrading with the DVD, it timed out on the (perfectly valid) URL's...
And it left a broken system, giving some errors of missing stuff after
rebooting so I spend quite some time fixing that one too. Then I had
to re-install quite a few packages and - now it works again. Not
something I'd recommend for somebody not experienced with quite some
reasonably hard-core stuff (chrooting, wgetting rpm's and forcibly
installing them, all not horribly complicated but not something an
'average' user would be able to do).

Hello There,
I just signed up myself for the volunteer work - Android Setup and
Wordpress Setup on the openSUSE:SUSECon Planning page. I use to
contribute to openSUSE quite a while back. And now I would really love
contribute my 2 cents again. I am wondering if anybody can tell me what
kind of things are being expected or is being planned for the above two
mentioned tasks. In short - I am looking for a place to start :)
Cheers
/Shayon

Hey all fosdem-goers!
I dunno about you, but I had a lot of fun at FOSDEM... But before catching
up to sleep I think we should let the world know what happened!
I did a little write-up and now need some review, additions and pictures
from ya'll. Anyone who has good pictures for news.o.o please mail me. IF you
point me to an online picture, make sure I can use it (license-wise) please!
Article draft:

(*yes* yes another etherpad lite thing. Hope this one is more stable but I
bet it's not)
Thanks,
Jos
Just an update on the Linux Audio Conference:
I investigated and found it really isn't beneficial to us for because:
1) There are no booths
2) They want $1K for sponsorship and it doesn't give us anything
except a nice logo print
3) We missed the deadline for submitting any talk proposals
4) With expected attendance of 150, the expense we would put out to
send people there isn't warranted
Even though it wont work out this time, I'll keep an eye on LAC and
see if we can come up with a better solution for next year.

My name is Md. Mesbahul Islam. I am currently a final year
undergraduate student studying Computer Science and Engineering in
Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology(BUET).
I live in Dhaka, Bangladesh. I love rain, basketball, playing guitar and coding.
I am very much interested in the openSUSE Wubi project for GSOC 2012.
openSUSE is one of the finest distros of linux(the green color and the
lizard just makes it more awesome) but it does not have the inside
windows installation whereas other distros like linuxMint has ported
wubi successfully. I have downloaded the Wubi source code from
launchpad using bazaar and reading Wubi developers manual for better
understanding.
I am coding in C++ for more than 4 years. The main part of the Wubi
code is written in python, though. I won't say that I am the perfect
guy for this job but I am willing to give my best. I think my interest
and adaptation skills will be helpful for finishing the project in
time.
I am considering this project as an opportunity to develop my skills
and learn new things from the community. I want to be a part of the
openSUSE community and work for this project whether I am selected for
GSOC 2012 or not. I hope you will consider me as a part of the
community and help me throughout this project.
I would very much appreciate any guidelines for this project. Hope to
have a wonderful summer with you guys. Thank you.
Regards,
Md. Mesbahul Islam
