Sorry, objection your honor. I would like to see the whole process.
There are a lot of depencies. Please think twice.

This is not my idea. Have you seen the source, were I got this? It is on
the Main Page in [...]

I think it is for openSUSE membership? But there are people who have to
decide. Not me. These are only my ideas to simplify things and to
descibe a pattern.
Thanks

Interesting, I have done it many times with no side effects as yet. I
start with editing /etc/zypp/zypp.conf where it describes the
architecture which is normally autodetected there I put x86_64 then run
zypper ref followed by zypper dup and finaly reboot with 64.

Just a quick note to let you all know that the recent poll to name the
openSUSE event in Florida is now completed and we have a name!
openSUSE Summit
Now that we have a name, I can formally re-organize the notes that are
spread in different places and tie it all into a way we can follow
easier. I promise I'll link you to all that in the next day or so.
Thanks for all your votes. It was a pretty decent turnout.

Heya all,
The linuxtag wiki page is up:
http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:LinuxTag_2012
If you want to go, please register yourself there. I think its cool if all
geekos are in one location, I've put Motel One there as a common hotel. It
ain't too expensive and the location is fine. But for those short on cash - I
can host 2-4 people (provided you're not afraid to have to share a 2-person
bed with a fellow geeko...).
If you give a talk - add it too! If you wonder about travel sponsorship, as
you can read on the Travel Support Program page:
http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Travel_Support_Program
LinuxTag is unlikely to have people sponsored to be there as there will be
quite a Geeko Crew anyway so it is low priority. That does not mean you can't
apply - if you really wouldn't be able to make it without some financial
support and can make a very valuable contribution to LinuxTag it is certainly
worth asking.
We do need people to man the booth - that'll get you a ticket for LinuxTag
too.
Be there!

My name is Athanasios-Ilias Rousinopoulos (aka Zoumpis).
Currently i am a first year Master Degree student , studying Free
Software in King Juan Carlos University (Madrid-Spain, URJC).
I live in Madrid in Spain but i come from Greece.
Furthermore i speak 3 languages : Greek (as mother tongue) , English
(Level C1) , Spanish (Level B2).
I am a member of openSUSE Ambassador Team since April 2011 and
also participated in conferences ,events (making presentation, booth
staff , organizing events).
Furthermore i have been the openSUSE Medical Project Coordinator
(from July 2011 to
November 2011) , i quited due to my Master Studies. During this period
i did use the SUSE Studio platform (so as
to create appliances) and used KIWI as well. Untill now i am an
active member of openSUSE Community.
During my graduate studies i programmed into many languages (C, C++ ,
Java , PHP) but i found Python interesting as well. Furthermore my
tesis was dealing with eyeOS Web Operating System (actually developing
applications).
After having a look at the ideas for this year and considering the
fact that i found
Python very interesting (actually i programm in Python more in than
the other languages the last six months), i am very interested at the
following ones :
* Support for Bitbake in OBS - Although i don't have experience with
packaging tools i have downloaded the openembedded documentation and
installed all the appropiate packages. Currently i study the
documentation and start making my own recipe(s).
* AppStream: Reviews in software center
* Upstream/downstream tracker
In what refers at "AppStream " and "Upstream/downstream tracker" i
have devoloped a web crawler in Python and i believe that Bitbake is
also a kind of cross distribution collaboration tool. So i am
interested in cross-distribution collaboration tools as well.
On the one hand I will not say that i program like a guru or like a
begginer on the other hand i can promise i will do my best so as to
come up with the project. Furthermore my expirience untill now in the
community and the Master studies in Free software as well will be
helpful to handle and finishing the project in time.
Finally i believe that participating in one of the projects above would
be beneficial for the openSUSE Project and me as well due to the fact
that i will improve my programming skills and develop a tool that will
be usefull for the community.
Best regards,
Athanasios-Ilias Rousinopoulos

WRT a reason why a member sometimes will not vote .... sometimes timing wrt family and work (plus vacation away from the Internet) can 'conspire' together to cause one's good intentions to vote, not to work out. One may, for example, have reviewed 1/2 of the issue needed to be reviewed prior to voting, only to have the unexpected 'steal one's time', and the deadline then pass by the time one recalls its important to vote before a specific date.
Shall we penalize members in such a case by removing their membership?
Hence I think the question is NOT why someone might not want to vote, but rather it is "name a reason why one can not vote", ... and I hope that I just did, ... ie on occasions the best laid plans to vote, do not work out.
On a different (but related) note ... this is an excellent an I believe most useful mailing list thread, and most interesting.

Guys,
I love to write a write about this, who can I talk to about doing that...
