Hi -project@ I've started receiving notifications about my FOSDEM talk submissions and hopefully so are all of you who also proposed talks for the Call for Papers that were discussed here As FOSDEM is such a big event for openSUSE I think we should do our best to make as much noise about what we're talking about before the event, and then do our best to support each other and attend talks by openSUSE speakers during the event And so, please reply to this thread with whatever details you have about your accepted talks at FOSDEM In my case, it looks like I have two talks accepted Track: Main Track Title: Resurrecting dinosaurs, what can possibly go wrong? Subtitle: How Containerised Applications could eat our users. It's that time of year when we (openSUSE members) need to elect representatives for the openSUSE Board [0] This year, there will be 2 seats to be elected, all for a standard 2 year (24 months) term : - Kosta Koudaras and Michal Hrusecky (who is eligible to run for reelection) We will be following following election schedule: 1/ 2017-12-08 (Phase 0) * Announcement of the openSUSE Board election for 2017. * Start of 3 week period to apply for an openSUSE membership (in order to vote or candidate). * Start of 3 week phase to stand for a position in the openSUSE Board. 2/ 2017-01-01 * Notification of intent to run, and application for an openSUSE membership close (end of phase 0). 3/ 2017-01-02 (Phase 1) * Start of campaign for the candidates before the ballots open (campaign might be done until ballots close). 4/ 2017-01-21 (Phase 2) * Ballots open: Please cast your vote here! 5/ 2017-02-01 * Ballots close (end of phase 2) 6/ 2017-02-02 * Announcement of the results If you want to participate in the openSUSE board and influence the future direction of the project please stand up and announce[1] your candidacy. If you know someone who you would like to see on the board, feel free to contact the election officials team ad propose your candidate. Only openSUSE members have the right to run for a board seat, except if they are in the Election Committee. To stand for a position in the openSUSE board please send a mail to * opensuse-project(a)opensuse.org AND * election-officials(a)opensuse.org In the application candidates should write a short introduction of themselves and probably a short manifesto/platform/program that gives answers to these topics: ALL openSUSE members[2] are eligible to vote. [opensuse-project] openSUSE Members retirement

Hi, quite some time ago I started working on process to retire openSUSE Members that are no longer active. I sent out few initial mails, but then process stalled for some time. I finally believe that I fixed everything and I'm ready to make it happen. But even though I run several tests and everything seems fine there is still possibility that there are some bugs. So if you receive unjustified threatening mail, don't worry about it and let me know. Brief recap, as discussed previously, it will move people who haven't been active for more than six months and haven't responded to any of the reminder e-mails to different group - openSUSE Members Emeritus. Those people will be notified vie their e-mail. If they want to keep membership, all they have to do is to respond to that mail, and they will be reinstated automatically after a short while. Currently this interval may be even more than a day as I'm running it manually to have thing a little bit more under control. Later on, after some more testing, reaction time will be reduced and whole thing will be let run unattended. So this is mainly intended as a heads-up in case something goes wrong, but hopefully, nothing will. [opensuse-project] Change of name of our registered association

Greetings, A few months back, I enquired about which Novell chapter was alive and well. Incidentally, only Novell Users International in France. Novell told me that NUI was discontinued *six* years back. According to French Law, nui.fr is alive and well though. We will have our Annual Extraordinary Meeting next 17th December and one of the articles will be the change of name. This has already been discussed with our members and we have thought of: opensuse76 and use the special TLD for the site: opensuse76.fr Formerly, I could ask Novell to use their Trade Mark, what is the policy nowadays please?
