Hello
How is your opinion on konvenientSUSE
http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=43378 and
opensuse-xgl-settings
htp://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=51201?
I think there are nice tools.
It would be great help for new users, because the biggest problem for
users is adding repositories,install drivers...
Is it possible to add in default installation for openSUSE 10.3? And for
example it would be first step after installation.
Bye

What does Yast have to do with Lara's survey? What are you talking about?

Great idea!
Also, it would be a good idea to code a yast module
that imports settings and data from windows. This module could be used
on the installation as well as on an installed system.

Metalinks were ready for 10.3 Alpha2 ISOs at
http://download.packages.ro/metalink/opensuse/ when the mirrors synced.
Note, these .metalinks do not yet contain repair information.
*TESTING* Metalinks with repair information listing multiple ISOs are at http://download.packages.ro/metalink/testing/opensuse/collections/
(GetRight seems to have problems with these at times, but other clients are reported to work).
(Repair info with single Metalinks for each file are at http://download.packages.ro/metalink/testing/opensuse/ )
aria2 is recommended ( http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-navigation.php?cat=/Network/aria2 ) but please report experiences with other clients.
If you have the KDE4 development installed, these should be usable in KGet (you'll probably have to compile it yourself).

Information about @opensuse.us email address's
Greetings from the forum world ;) I REALLY hope this is the right
mailing list to post this too lol. I'm subscribed to almost all of
them, this one seemed the most appropriate.
Opensuse.us is a forum for opensuse users. We have setup email
addresses for opensuse users, and it's available for anyone that wants
to sign up. Space is limited ...... unless google smiles upon us and
gives us more if we need them. ;)
I realize that these are not the opensuse.org email address's that
people would prefer, but it's not "too" far off. It's the best I
could do, and I hope it's well received. It seemed many people wanted
to have/use opensuse.org emails, and since they were not available to
the public/or users .... we would try in some small way to fill the
void.
Currently have 2,000 @opensuse.us email accounts to dispense. First
come first serve basis, will probably be able to obtain more once
these have been handed out....... but I make no promises.
Interested ? Want one ? Anyone that is part of the opensuse community
(irc/forums-any of them/mailing lists) can get one if they want....
How ? ----- >>>> READ BELOW
=============================================
For anyone wanting a @opensuse.us email address , please post your
request in the opensuse.us forum.... here:
http://opensuse.us/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1825&start=0
We will setup your email address and PM your access information to you
once it's setup.
Your request for an email address must be made in this thread, do NOT
PM me or other admins and do not email us your request. If you want an
email address the request must be posted in this thread on the forums
or your request will not be honored. This will allow a few of us to
work on the requests together and expedite them and also assures us
that you are real people and not bots. If your not a member of
opensuse.us you will need to sign up and make at least the one post in
this thread to get an email address. (Also keeps the forum
usernames/emails names from getting out of sync. IE: one person
having a username on the forums and someone else having it for an
email address).
The email service is google's branded gmail. Currently 2+ GB of space,
chat, calender, documents, and more. As such, the TOS information is
listed below.
Email Terms of Service are listed below:
http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/users/terms.htmlhttp://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/users/privacy.htmlhttp://mail.google.com/a/opensuse.us/help/program_policies.html
PLUS:
opensuse.us does not guarantee ANYTHING in regards to the email service.
opensuse.us reserves the right to cancel service at any time without
notice for any reason.
Any changes to the TOS will be posted in this thread ...(
http://opensuse.us/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1825&start=0 )... and the
TOS are subject to change without notice.
Unethical behavior will get your account suspended or closed, totally
at the discretion of the Site Administrators.
By posting your request , you agree to the Terms of Service and have
read this message.
==================================================
Now, FWIW, we have no plans to discontinue email, we have no plans to
change anything, however the above is just to protect us in case stuff
goes horribly wrong. The opensuse.us domain name has been paid for
thru
Domain Expiration Date: Sun Apr 17 23:59:59 GMT 2016
at that time we fully plan on renewing it again. In any case, as you
can see, we don't plan on this being short term. If you have any
questions, please feel free to post them in the forum.

Hello
My name is Lara Thynne and I am a PhD candidate at Deakin University
Australia. I am currently researching the boundary between work and
leisure activities directly related to the open source community and
open source program development.
As part of this I am running a survey at the following address.
https://dcarf.deakin.edu.au/surveys/oss/
The survey is completely confidential and looks at your views and
motivations to use Open Source software and to participate in the
community.
It will only take a five to ten minutes to complete and your contact
details will not be recorded. You can withdraw your participation at
any stage.
I sincerely apologize for the spammish nature of this e-mail - I
don't mean to abuse this list. I am trying to collect responses
from as many open source developers and users as possible and a
mailing list like can be the only way to reach many developers.
Thanks again
Lara
P.S The program that I am using is open source, of course
(www.phpsurveyor.org)!

Hello.
I´ve got two question.
My first question is about the ntfs-3g driver.
Now, when is in a stable version will be the ntfs-3g driver available in
openSUSE 10.3 default? Will it be possible to write to NTFS partition? How is
consideration of Novell?
Yes, i see that some people discussed about it on this mailing list, but i
don´t know how is result.
And my second question is about boot time
project(http://en.opensuse.org/Boot_time).
The plan is to boot in 5 seconds. This means, from the grub screen until
gdm
loads there should be no more than 5 seconds.
How does it look like? Are you going to plan faster boot time in openSUSE
10.3 than openSUSE 10.2?
Anybody knows?
Thank you.
regards Rasto

Hello list,
is there a way to expand this list [1] so that it includes older versions of
SUSE as well?
