In the trunk, we now have some .pot file updates. There is no urgent need to work on them--it is still a long way to go. See coolo's http://en.opensuse.org/Roadmap . This is more to figure out whether all translatable pieces are available and--maybe more important--what's obsolete by now. [opensuse-translation] How to report typos in packages/pot files

Hi all, I am translating packages/base1.po file and I have found some typo in the msgids. If I have understood correctly, these msgids are extracted automatically from rpms included in the distribution. What is the best way to report such typos? Should I contact directly the rpm mantainer or file a bug in bnc? In the former case, how can I find the mantainer given that I do not have an account in obs and rpm -qi reports only authors? In the latter case, is there an (almost) automatic way to relate the rpm to the right component available in bnc? The 3rd international conference of the openSUSE project takes place in Nuremberg, Germany from 11th to 14th of September 2011: http://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Conference Now it is up to us to plan translation and localization related activities: presentations, discussions, or even workshops. I'll offer to talk about our infrastructure (SVN server and communication channels), involved people (translators, package and component maintainers, coordinators), and selected components (e.g., YaST, desktop files, translation update packages). What are your ideas? I think small sessions about the tools you use, would be great. Do we need a trouble-shooting session, where we can talk about thinks that do not work? One of my goals would be to attrack even more translators. Often teams consist of just one active translator. [opensuse-translation] Timestamp and GIT revision in kernel description

Hi all, in the description of kernel packages (kernel-desktop and kernel-default) there is a Source Timestamp and a GIT Revision. Is it possible to make msgid and msgstr independent from these values, in order to be sure that translations are up-to-date? Hi all, just a question: packages/*.po files still contain some reference to OpenOffice.org (by hunspell and myspell). Since this is not a simple typo, should I open a bug report (and hence the maintainer decides what to do) or should I update the package in openSUSE:Factory as I do for typos? I think what is the most important in attracting new contributors is making clear that: - for translating, it's more important to be familiar with the product than to be a technical person - there is often a webservice where translations are coordinated (like tradu.softwareliber.ro for Romanian), you don't really have to worry about source control and stuff like that - there are groups of translators for different products who collaborate in order to provide translations which are as close as possible to each-other. They also offer support and advice to newcomers. The contained strings seem to me to be the description of rpms included in the dvd/live-cd. Are these files used? If yes, should we translate also such files? As usual, shortly after the release I'd like to prepare a translation update. Please, help with collecting info about parts that are worth an update. Webyast is already known. Which yast languages? Desktop components? Please change the ‘Norwegian’ entry to ‘Norwegian Bokmål’ and add ‘Norwegian Nynorsk’ as a separate language/team. [opensuse-translation] Refresh pot files?

Hi all, according to the oS 12.1 roadmap[1], the last round of translations will start Sept. the 1st. As pointed out in previous messages, there are some translations that are not used by corresponding applications. This seems to be due to outdated pot files or to different msgids in po files and applications. Moreover, there are po files without corresponding pot files, such as html-help-boot.it.po, html-help-install.it.po, kfiledialog.it.po, kinternet.it.po and libgnomesu-1.0.it.po in lnc. Is it possible to refresh all pot files (and then all po files) in order to be sure to translate the right messages?
