We are in the process creating branches: https://forgesvn1.novell.com/svn/suse-i18n/branches/SLE10SP1 For SLE10 SP1 https://forgesvn1.novell.com/svn/suse-i18n/branches/openSUSE-10_2-Branch For openSUSE 10.2 Thus far, none of these branches is open for check-ins. If you want to fix anything 10.2 related, just use the trunk as during the last months. In case of serious ("critical") issues of which you want to see an online update, create a bugzilla entry as well. Most of the translation iusses are by definition not "critical", so do not be disappointed if we cannot release on official update. [opensuse-translation] Translation Update for SLE10 SP1 and Forthcoming openSUSE 10.3

We (Novell Globalization Services [Dublin]) are working on translation updates and several new translations for SLE10 SP1. We will submit these translations to the SLE10SP1 branch of the forge repository at https://forgesvn1.novell.com/svn/suse-i18n . For SP1, we cannot accept additional translations done but community members. So I'd like to ask you not to touch the SLE10SP1. When the SP1 translations are done, we want to promote them to the trunk of the SVN and thus they will become available for openSUSE 10.3. This will be a strong push for languages such as Arabian, Catalan, some Indian and South African languages. This also mean that you should save your time now to avoid work duplication. You don't want to translate files such as zypper, rug, or zmd twice. Thus far it is undecided, whether we should just add the new translations the trunk or whether we also want to override existing translations with those done in the SLE10SP1 branch. In update-desktop-files we now use the new enhanced PO file format: #: /opt/kde3/share/applnk/System/ScreenSavers/zoom.desktop msgctxt "Name(zoom.desktop)" msgid "Setup..." msgstr "" "msgctxt" is an additional field that contains context information. It is read-only, you must not translate it. Just translate the msgid and enter the translation into the msgstr field. Some tools do not understand this format (Emacs/po-mode). Do not ask—setting the deadlines is still under consideration ;) Nevertheless during the last days developers updated some .pot files and something new is available for translation. We also got a YaST update just today, and I'm going to merge all this soon. Caveats: . All the new messages are not proofed; expect changes and thus fuzzies during the next weeks. . Fixed translations are still to be merged from the SLE10SP1 branch to the trunk. I tried to change the PO file verification script on the SVN server. Unfortunately, I broke it and it seems to be impossible to check in PO files at the moment. Thanks in advance. I just found your reply on wiki. Translation should work from Russian to Bulgarian too :-) Now is too late here so just to let you start. I guess that language code is bg (check this), so each translated page should start with BG. For instance: BG-Welcome to openSUSE.org I just created that page for you. http://en.opensuse.org/BG-Welcome_to_openSUSE.org Translate text in you preferred editor and than copy to wiki, or enter translation directly. Before you save you can see preview using button "Show Preview" and when you think it looks as you want than than save it. I don't know how to handle the {{IW}} template. For other templates is simple: Each template, ie. word or words enclosed in {{Example}} you should change in your translation in {{BG-Example}}. In browser it will look like red letters link to Template:BG-Example that will give you edit page where you can enter BG translation of that template. I'll see to find some page with templates and prepare it for you, but it can happen that you wait a day or 2 for this. This message will be posted to opensuse-translation(a)opensuse.org mail list, and CC to you, so please subscribe to translation mail list, if you didn't before. Instructions how to subscribe you can find on http://en.opensuse.org/Communicate page with links. We are not in the progress of installing an additional pre-commit script. For progress info, see http://devzilla.novell.com/forge/show_bug.cgi?id=84 (I put it on hold because I do not want to cause side-effects to the SLE10SP1 branch). This script ensures that Plural-Forms statements are used in a consistent way.
