[opensuse] constant volume level in firefox

Hello: How can I set firefox to keep the volume I've set in pulseaudio volume control? For example when I play a video in youtube and adjust the volume of its sound, the volume is reset to 100% when I fast forward or move back in the video. This is very annoying. How can I make firefox remember the volume? Currently I use openSUSE Leap 15.1 and firefox 60.8.0esr but the problem occurs in other versions of firefox and firefox derivatives (eg palemoon browser) as well. [opensuse] Modern and current 7zip and rar file format version support?

Wanted to make more use of Suse/Linux, but people from over the corporate and Windows worlds seem to be fond of submitting RAR and 7ZIP file formats to all the different places, channels, transfer mechanisms etc and seemingly even current Leap 15.2 seems to be unable to handle new sub version formats of both, rar and 7zip file formats. This is my interpretation of the failings to read/check/unpack the rar and 7zip files on a fresh leap 15.2 installation. Lot of rar Files the ark program can not make any use of it complains it can not handle the content. Also the same for 7Zip as for the un*x world, there seems to be no fairly recent port of the open source 7zip project and or its libraries? I have not found any really meaningful information out there either, additional repositories, or projects to port more recent unrar or better 7zip source code and libraries over to the linux etc world. I guess 7zip SDK and source code would suffice, as a current 7zip on the windows platform can reand and at least extract also current rar archive formats. Anyone know how to solve these issues? [opensuse] Smb protocol version 1 support with 15.2? Can I use samba packages from 15.1?

On some upgraded 15.1 system to the new 15.2 meanwhile, I have figured that smb protocol version 1 is seemingly gone for good now on the server side. In this network I have a smb version 1 level client only, and I used to connect to the suse leap 15.1 samba there. could solve my problem by removing the samba packages from the 15.2 machine and force installing the 15.1 packages from the earlier version? [opensuse] dolphin and systemd automounts

In Dolphin, in the left hand column, I have my four systemd automounted drives listed under "Remote". When they are not mounted, the icon has what looks like a 'disconnect' symbol in the lower right hand corner. Sometimes the icons are even gone, not sure why. There are two NFS and two CIFS mounts - at first, I did not have 'user' in their options, and clicking on the drive in Dolphin would only produce an error message: An error occurred while accessing 'Home', the system responded: mount: /home/per/Photos: operation permitted for root only Displayed on a red background at the top of the window. So I added 'user' to the options for all four. The NFS drives - now work just fine. The CIFS drives - don't work. [opensuse] NTP precision in openSUSE

One thing I've wondered about is the precision of the time displayed in openSUSE. I connect a stratum 1 NTP server and also have a clock that receives time from WWVB. Sometimes there seems to be a slight difference in the displayed time between the two. I suspect the clock may be less precise, as I bought it from Radio Shack several years ago and it wasn't that expensive. Has anyone looked into the display precision on Linux? Of course, the accuracy should be identical on both, as they are both traceable back to International Atomic Time. [opensuse] Idea / Help needed: /boot is too small, how do I resize a bog standard partition with filesystem?

Hi, (this is on 15.2) today's kernel update barfed on me, "package kernel-xxxx needs YY MB on /boot". I managed to install the update by manually moving the old kernel images to /tmp, installing the update rpm, and then moving them back, but for obvious reasons I don't want to have to do that with every kernel update, so here's the plea for inspiration: how can I resize /dev/sda1 and the filesystem on it, without loosing anythign on my system? The situation: /dev/sda[abcd] exist. /dev/sda1 is a bog-standard ext4, 150MB, mounted on /boot /dev/sda2 covers the rest of the disk, and is a PV for LVM /dev/sd[bcd]1 all exist, span their whole disks, and are PVs in the same VG as /dev/sda2 I have enough room to do a pvmove from /dev/sda2 to anywhere else if i resize a few of the volumes in my VG, so getting to the point where /dev/sda1 is all that's left on /dev/sda should be easy enough, but I've never resized a normal partition - learned about LVM too early in my career ;) How do I resize a normal partition and the filesystem on it? Like I already said, filesystem is ext4.
