is the packman repository down? moving servers? having a bad day?
my failing url is
http://packman.inode.at/suse/openSUSE_Leap_15.2/
when i disable it and then try to add anew using yast, community, it is
no longer listed as an option
On a recent Leap 15.2 install, I seem not to be able to get KDE to
remember file associations. More specifically, which application to
run for the file.
If I select a file in Konqueror, and then select an application in the
dialog Konqueror provides, and click the box that says to remember
this, when I click again on that same file, it once again asks which
application to use. It never remembers the association. It does run
the application after I select it. But never again unless I select the
application again.
When I say that the association should be remembered, I get the status
window saying that something is being updated. There is no error. In
the X log, I see this when the association is selected and being
remembered:
kbuildsycoca4 running...
So if there is an error, it is not presented anywhere I see.
Has anyone else seen this?

Folks,
triggered by my desktop problems reported in previous mails, I wonder
how can I save the list of currently installed packages so that a
complete reinstallation (i.e., not using `zypper dup`) of 15.2 makes
use this list?
Werner
Using Thunderbird for email. Is the password it requires a function of
Thunderbird or of the internet supplier? It is becoming obnoxious
and since I have only a dog in my house with me, I really don't need the
damn password for email, and If I could eliminate it, I would. (And if
so, how?)

It's only taken decades, but we finally see official, almost completely unhedged support for Linux from a major hardware vendor. They even have the word "Linux" in their domain name: https://linux.dell.com/

"my" moderator did something very different: he acted as the list owner,
impersonating the list owner he promised to look after my problem and
then puff! he disappeared.
As a list member I think I deserve an explanation, for I won't accept to
submit to such a wrong moderation

It doesn't work for me. What are you running the server on? Mine's on
pfsense.
Folks,
I've recently done an update from 15.1 to 15.2 using `zypper dup`.
Since then I see an annoying message on the middle of my KDE desktop
screen:
Erstellung des Ein-/Ausgabemoduls nicht möglich. Socket für
Ein-/Ausgabemodul für „desktop“ kann nicht gestartet werden.
I guess an English translation is roughly
Can't create in/out module. Socket for in/out module for 'desktop'
can't be started.
My next step was to switch to the newest KDE version following the
instructions from
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:KDE_repositories
However, I still get this message.
For testing purposes, I called
dbus-launch dolphin
and get the following output on the console – dolphin shows no files
in its window.
kf.kio.core: KIO Connection server not listening, could not connect

...
Do you have any idea how I could fix this?
Werner
I'm on Tumbleweed.
Does zypper dup reload the current status of my repositories with newer
packages, or do I have to run zypper ref first?
Or is that what the man page means by "auto-refresh", and in that case,
how do I configure that?
The info I found online is conflicting. Wiki says zypper dup is enough,
but it also says I get a notification about new packages, which I don't.
I'm guessing that's only valid for Leap, but not sure about this either.
Thanks.
