We pipewire users can EASILY get better sounds!

Hello, I've been trying to make a filter for a few months now, in order to improve the sound I get from Pipewire, which has improved dramatically since version 1.0.0. Today, I thought I'd finally managed to get a sound I was satisfied with, so I took the filter off to check the quality of the sound I was getting from my own filter, and was astonished to hear the sound. The sound through my own filter was not so much different, and the only difference was that there was no reverbation in my own filter. So, I went to the doctor for my regular check-up, and while I was waiting to be seen, I suddenly had the idea that "pipewire was using the plugins I had installed to create my filter". When I got home and checked the source, as I had suspected, it had been. On the other hand, I also found that pulseaudio does not have this function. BTW, when I installed the lv2 (lv2-SmartAmp) plugin for guitar sounds, which I had only installed the vst3 plugin for, and played it, the sound quality clearly improved. What I don't understand is that I have installed plugins to improve the sound of string, wind and percussion instruments, but they are all vst3 plugins, and I have created my own filter using vst3 plugins. But there is no change in the sound without the filter... (_ _? Anyway, I created my own filter in the following way, and I used synthesize to incorporate filters that improve the sound quality of various instruments, along with filters that enhance the bass, but this seems to be the same as the sound source processing that pipewire does. synrthesize --> equalize --> 7.1 virtualize --> reveb So I think it would be good to install the lv2 plugins that matches each sink, but I have installed too many lv2 plugins, so I don't know which plug-in matches other than the guitar. However, I think it's worth a try, so please give it a go. By the way, when checking the effect of installing plugins, be sure to execute $ systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse wireplumber. I think that people who like jazz and live performances will be fine with this setup (listening on the same floor as the performers), but I like the hall tone we get when listening in a concert hall or church, so I make and use a reverb filter. If there are any people who want it, I will upload the filter, so please let me know. TW - 6.11 kernel - Nvidia G04 build just fine :)

All, The G03 (340), G04 (390) and G05 (470) Nvidia drivers build without further patching on the 6.11 kernel. Since starting the patch scramble last week, this looked to be the case, but had not tested since Arch has not yet put out the 6.11 kernel in its core repo. (openSUSE TW Beats Arch on 6.11 kernel -- should be the byline) The open-source driver for current cards and GPUs did need some patching and there was an open question whether changes to the fbdev header in the kernel would need a patch for the closed source drivers as well. Devs, All, The 6.11 kernel was released today so it will soon show up in Tumbleweed. To avoid a repeat of the 6.10 Nvidia kernel driver update delay, it's time to start the patch scramble (if required). Very few minor version updates don't require patching of the Nvidia driver for the G03->G05 drivers. The only one in recent memory was the 6.8 -> 6.9 update. MC bug - sourcing /usr/share/mc/mc-wrapper.sh no longer exits to cwd?

All, On Tumbleweed, the current midnight commander no longer exits to the current working directory when sourcing /usr/share/mc/mc-wrapper.sh. This has worked .. forever, but for some reason setting the alias: mc='. /usr/share/mc/mc-wrapper.sh' and running mc and navigating to a new folder, exiting mc exits back to the original folder where mc was launched instead of the current working directory. Can someone confirm, and if so, I'll write the bug. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Unable to install multimedia codec files on OpenSuSE 15.5

Hmm, When I tried to install the onc-click installation files, .ymp, for Multimedia Codecs like MP3, DVD, DivX, MP4 from https://www.opensuse-community.org/ for either KDE or GNOME I get the following error message - The install link or file you opened does not contain instructions for openSUSE Leap 15.5. from the YasT 1-Click installer. I am running OpenSuSE 15.5 x64 OS. What am I doing wrong? Problem with new kernel 23.22 Leap 15.6

The kernel was updated today on my ThinkPad, which fails on bootup with the error: Kernel Offset: 0x17200000... end Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS... I can revert to 23.17. Anyone else experience this? tnx jk

I'm using Leap 15.5 with the KDE Frameworks, Plasma, and Applications repos. DVD player doesn't recognize DVD's

Hi, I have built up a new computer and the DVD RW doesn't recognize DVDs. I have tried it with a commercially written DVD, and with a blank DVD +RW. The player spins and tries to recognize the DVD without success until it times out and stops spinning. The other player on this computer is a Blu-Ray RW player that I salvaged from a computer my neighbor threw out in the trash. When I put a commercially written DVD or a blank DVD in the Blu-ray player it is recognized, and a written disc is recognized as the source disc in K3b. But no disc is ever recognized in the DVD RW player as the destination.
